While #FlyingTed was doing his walk of shame through IAH Airport, we delivered over 800 Asian lunch boxes and about 1500 street tacos to needy families in SW Houston who haven't had a hot meal in days.

The wonderful @SandraRdgz27 helped coordinate deliveries and rounded up volunteers to pick up and drop off a ton of food.

(No comments about how we stacked these, we did the best we could.)

Judge @israelgarcia4jp took 300 box lunches to Pelican Pointe apartments.

Many residents there not only had to deal with the cold, but they had a massive fire that took out a unit a few days ago.

Kids there were coming up to me saying it was the best food they've ever had. 🥲

We're especially grateful to Vican Sun who owns Sun's Club and Viet Hoa supermarket.

Vican donated 200 lunch boxes for free. We offered to pay from the money that others had donated, but he refused.

The hot food bar at Viet Hoa is awesome. Go eat there.

Those 200 Viet Hoa lunch boxed were quickly taken to hungry people.

I paid for another 200 boxes of food from my campaign fund. But I am very grateful for Yantze Restaurant, a struggling mom & pop place, for being willing to make everything at cost and on short notice.

Many other restaurants offered to make food at a loss (from what our $5/person budget could pay for). These include:

Welcome Supermarket hot food
Dim Sum King
Kuen Noodles
Shanghai Restaurant

They insisted on making better food because they wanted to share in difficult times.

A big thank you to my friend (and sometimes official, sometimes unofficial Mayor of Chinatown) Kenneth Li and Beatrice.

They helped us coordinate these last 400+ lunch boxes.

Meanwhile... @miyashay was busy coordinating 2 or 3 different taco trucks, Moving them from apartment complex to apartment complex throughout the day.

She's also the person who's been asking people for money to help pay for these meals.

I spent my last 2 hours knocking on doors at the final delivery site.

I had to use Google translate to find out how to say "free food": comida gratis.

Even then, some people were unsure. They couldn't believe that people would bring them food. 😔

I'm exhausted and I have chill burns on my face and ears, but it was a lot of fun.

It was nice to see people brighten up.

A small group of kids chased me for a bit yelling at me what they loved about their individual meals. 😂

Look. I know a few thousand meals is just a drop in the bucket compared to how many Texans are suffering. But it's a start.

If you can, go help a neighbor.

Do something. Don't be Ted Cruz.

This is what Texans do best.
