Cautious optimism

There were 16 new cases reported in the region today: 1 each in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and 14 in Newfoundland and Labrador.

1 new death was reported; the region's 95th.

There are now 512 known, active cases in the region ImageImageImageImage
There was no update in PEI, leaving them with 2 known, active cases. ImageImageImage
NB reported 1 new cases today, located in the Edmundston region.

Unfortunately, 1 additional death was reported in NB, also in the Edmundston region.

There are now 84 known, active cases in NB. ImageImageImageImage
Here is the NB restrictions and case map, as well as case timeline for the NB health regions.

Edmundston is closing the gap with the other health regions.

Looking good! ImageImage
NL reported 14 new cases today: 1 travel-related case each in the Labrador-Grendell and Western health regions, and 12 in the Eastern health region.

No presumptive cases are awaiting confirmation.

There are now 407 known, active cases in NL. ImageImageImageImage
NL is on day 10 of the initial 14 day lockdown. The presumptive cases have been cleared and things are trending in the right direction.

There's no evidence the outbreak had yet spread outside of the initial area.

Fingers crossed. Image
NS reported 1 new cases today, it was in the Halifax area and a close contact of an existing case.

There are now 19 known, active cases in NS. ImageImageImageImage
You can see the updated pandemic timeline for the Atlantic region and surrounding area here
You can see the vaccine roll-out for each province and territory in the animation. Top/solid line is doses distributed, bottom/dashed line is doses administered, and the shaded area between is doses in storage. All scaled for population size.
And here are the vaccine roll-out metrics.

1st is how many days since the country as a whole had the same vaccination rate as each province (i.e., how many days behind the rest of the country they are in vaccinating).

2nd is estimated days of doses left based on recent use ImageImage
That's it for today's update.

Take care of one another and enjoy the rest of your Monday!

Hey Nova Scotia!

For the first time in months there are some untraced cases of COVID-19 in the province.

This raises the possibility that there is a cluster out there that hasn't been found yet. The sooner it's found, the easier it will be to contain.
Here's what you can do to help:

Go get tested in the next few days, and encourage others to do the same.

If you don't have any symptoms, you can book an appointment or check out the upcoming pop-up testing sites: nshealth.ca/asymptomatic-c…
If you do have symptoms, you can get assessed and arrange for testing here: covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca/en/TestingRequ…

If you're in one of the areas with untraced cases (Annapolis Valley and Sackville), consider dialing down on indoor gatherings for the next couple of weeks.

I seemingly briefly lost control of the language centers of my brain while typing out one of the more important tweets of the update. Typical!

I've tweeted a bunch of times that the virus always gets to move first, and we always have to catch up.
There are some untraced cases in NS, currently.

"How bad is it?!?"

We don't know. It's possible we've stumbled across most or all of the cases. Or the province is poking around the edges of a large cluster.

Here's how we find out: Go Get Tested.
The more people that get tested, the faster we'll find a cluster if it exists, and put the issue to rest if it doesn't.

So, take a few minutes to head down to one of the testing sites in your area, and get tested.

Encourage your friends and family to get tested, too.
