In fact most of the Alabama statewide officeholders are former Democrats.. Many of them began their political careers as Democrats.
In fact John Merill lost reelection to the state house to a guy who switched parties after 1994. Merill later switched parties too.
Governor Kay Ivey, Treasurer John McMillan, SoS John Merill, and Auditor Jim Ziegler all first ran for office as Democrats.
Add in Richard Shelby and that's 5/9 statewide officeholders.

There's so many episodes of Seinfeld that wouldn't work today because of the technological changes. Standing in line to buy a movie theater ticket only to find out the movie is sold out? Renting a movie at a store? Can just stream it now.

Ostensibly the House and Senate are intended to be equal partners in legislating but in recent years the Senate has started to legislate less. Even when the same party controls both chambers, the Senate takes up just a fraction of legislation the House does.
This isn't just McConnell's fault. Reid didn't want to make his vulnerable Senators up in 2014 take needlessly controversial votes.
Some of them like Landrieu and Pryor were doomed no matter what votes they took. A bad candidate in Iowa cost Dems a seat and a retirement in WV made that a certain flip.

In 2008, Obama got just 11% of the white vote in Missisippi.

Trump won this district 52-44% in 2016 and 56-43% in 2020.
The Senate district that this district comprises 1/3 of flipped last year. Senator Sean O'Brien was defeated by Sandy O'Brien. None of these people are related though.

to right wing critics of mainstream news, Berenson is viewed as a whistleblower. They love to rag on the NYT but Berenson is someone willing to confirm their priors.
