📍Elementary school outbreak of #B117 mutation in Vienna🇦🇹—16 infections—4 teachers, 12 students. Started with 1 positive teacher early last week—by end of last week, +6 students. Testing of all students & teachers on Wednesday found +9 more #COVID19.

2) Is this isolated? No! This follows another large outbreak elsewhere last week at another region of Lower Austria. Elementary schools restarted in person in early February.
3) and then there is the clear cut school driven cases in Quebec 🇨🇦. Teacher and student cases only increased when schools open. Teacher and student cases fell during school break, while general population kept surging during holidays. Night and day.
4) I’ll let this Quebec graph of cases since mid Jan speak for itself.
5) Danish scientists think #B117 may be behind the relative rise of pediatric cases. Or it could be schools, either way, there is something to the new trends in 2021 that wasn’t seen in kids early last year
6) For all those naysayers claiming school transmission doesn’t happen / barely happens... the evidence is overwhelming and you’re on the wrong side of all the data. Also read this
7) Highest risk occupations in England for #COVID19 risk... teachers are #4.
8) These school outbreaks are happening everywhere. And most of the time it’s #B117. Many now suspect B117 and kids is a new thing.

What the hell is going on in Canada 🇨🇦 health chiefs these days?! First, a mask-dismissing Dr Henry who downplays kids in BC, & now Ontario 🇨🇦 health chief Dr Williams didn’t recognize asymptomatic transmission for half year?!

Even Trump’s CDC knew that in Feb 2020! 🤦🏻‍♂️ #COVID19

I want to puke—BC🇨🇦 health chief doesn’t want school kids masking. “Asked if she’s revisit policy of no masks in elementary schools, Dr Henry replied: "Not at all—There's no evidence that a young child having to wear a mask all day long is going to make a difference."” #COVID19
2) A little reminder first of all what happened in Quebec when schools were open... and in slide let’s look at age groups...
3) After schools reopened... which group had the highest surge of cases? 0-9. Exactly the unmasked age group.

TEXAS WANTS ANOTHER DISASTER—
@GovAbbott @GregAbbott_TX said that Texas is planning to soon lift all statewide orders (including masks, dining, and distancing rules) related to #COVID19 pandemic; announcement is forthcoming. Horrid. Only 5% vaccinated.

3) Experts say Texas is a long way from reaching herd immunity through the vaccines. Hitting the 70% to 80% level that many estimate is needed would mean vaccinating some 22 million people, or nearly 100% of adults in the state, according to census numbers.
