Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update: We have admin. 180K+ doses of vaccine. 73K+ ABs are fully immunized. In the last 24hrs, we ID’d 267 new cases & completed 6.3K+ tests. Our positivity rate is about 4.4%. There are alerts/outbreaks in 231 schools w/846 cases. (1/9)

There are 326 ppl in hosp. incl 51 in ICU. Sadly, 11 new deaths were reported in the last 24hrs. My heartfelt sympathies go to the families and friends of these individuals, as well as anyone who is mourning the loss of someone they loved, no matter the cause. (2/9)

Every part of AB/sector of society is touched by COVID-19. We must be compassionate w/ those exposed or who test +. Stigma & blame risk driving cases/spread underground & discouraging ppl from getting tested. We all have a role in supporting each other & reducing spread. (3/9)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update: We have administered 173K+ doses of vaccine & 69K+ ABs are fully immunized. Over the last 24hrs, we ID’d 273 new cases incl 11 new variant cases & completed 6.1K+ tests. Our positivity rate is about 4.5%. (1/13)

There are 324 ppl in hospital, incl. 53 in ICU. Sadly, 16 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hrs. Many were from Dec. & ID’d post-mortem. Every death & case is not merely a number but a fellow Albertan who loved and was loved by many. (2/13)

There are 235 schools under alert/outbreak, about 10% of all schools in AB w/ 840 cases since Jan. 11. The R value for the province is 1.03. This includes 0.93 for #YEG, 0.95 for #YYC & 1.13 for the rest of AB. A reproductive number of 1+ means cases are rising. (3/13)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update: We have administered 149K+ doses of vaccine and 54K+ are fully immunized w/2 doses. Over the last 24 hrs, we have ID’d 263 new cases & completed about 5.2K tests. (1/9)

Our positivity rate is about 5%, up from the past few weeks. We will watch closely to see if this is an isolated finding, or a concerning trend. There are active alerts/outbreaks in 264 schools, or about 11 % of the schools w/ 861 cases. (2/9)

Since Fri. we have ID’d 50 new variant cases. I know many are concerned. I am too, particularly about the growing # not linked to travel, though many are the result of close contacts IDd through contact tracing & from offering testing 2x to anyone who may have been exposed. (3/9)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB numbers: Over the last 24 hrs we have identified 284 new cases and completed 7,972 tests. Our positivity rate is 3.7%. (1/4)

There are 5,215 active cases in the province with 351 people in hospital, including 60 in ICU. Sadly, 5 new deaths were reported over the past 24hrs. My condolences go to their families, friends & anyone mourning the loss of a loved one today. (2/4)

This long weekend, please be safe. This is not the time for the large get-togethers of past years. By not gathering w/ ppl outside our household, we’re not giving COVID-19 the chance to spread. Meet virtually or get together outdoors w/ no more than 10 ppl & stay 2m apart. (3/4)
