Few days ago I spoke about the fact that the African Free Trade Zone commenced or came into Effect January 1st, 2021, as expected there were going to be several challenges and several huddles to cross, nevertheless the free trading Zone was the right move and long overdue

We don't have to wait for too for our first major challenge😁😁😁

The Nigerian government has sent an Exemption list to Ecowas which technically means that goods on the exemption list can't be imported into the country under the premise of the African Free Trade Zone/ Area.
Goods that top this list includes Rice, Flour, Sugar, Cement.

For me this move seems to favor and strengthen a particular Business man in Nigeria, raising further questions on the country's policy making process.

On the 1st of January, 2021, the African Free Trade Zone came into effect.

54 African countries kicked off the African Free Trade Zone.

A free trade zone is a class of special economic zone, a duty free Area where a group of countries reduce or eliminate trade barriers.
