I watched the clip of Rand Paul's questioning of Dr. Rachel Levine, the first transgender person to seek Senate confirmation. It was transphobic trash. I have been writing about female genital mutilation for over 30 years and the way he used it to grill her is outrageous.
The ways Terfs use FGM to try to silence those of use who pro-trans feminists and the way they try to blur the lines between the torture that is genital mutilation and gender dysphoria is truly outrageous. I am from Egypt where rates of FGM are horrendously high.
It helps no one but transphobic fucks to use FGM the way Rand Paul did as part of his transphobic attack on Dr. Levine. I will not be sharing the video because he's fucking trash.
I thought when I first heard the video that Rand Paul was on a commission looking into FGM around the world or something. As soon as he veered into gender dysphoria and gender affirming surgery I was outraged. Fuck him.
it's worth mentioning as well that I am sure Rand Paul doesn't give a flying fuck about FGM or girls subjected to that crime. He is just using his faux concern as a cudgel against trans people and trans rights. Fuck him.
Having been at the receiving end of UK terf fuckery, I know too well how they use FGM. So many of them actually say to me "If you were a real feminist, you'd be focusing on FGM in Egypt." Which I fucking do, you fuckers. And that is not mutually exclusive to also being pro-trans
And also, I remind them that there are trans people in Egypt who are fighting transphobia. It is possible to fight FGM and to also fight transphobia. It doesn't occur to them that there are trans people in Egypt!
