चिमणीला सापडला मोती. A very beautiful children's story (don't know its origins, reminiscent of Panchatantra though I've read Ramesh Mudholkar version) which introduces to children concepts of
1. Leverage of Power 2. Politics 3. Interweb of dependencies and weak-spots of targets
The sheer genius of Shri. Vishnu Sharma for composing Panchatantra to teach deep intricacies of politics to children and grown-ups alike is mind-boggling.
Short synopsis of it is thus :
A sparrow and Crow are friends. While foraging for food, Sparrow finds a beautiful Pearl.
Crow bring big, snatches it from small sparrow and refuses to give it back. Sparrow pleads but crow refuses to give it back
Sparrow goes to the tree on which they have nests. requests tree to shake crow's nest. Tree refuses - Why should I do it, crow hasn't done anything to me?

Metaphors of Bhushan are so beautiful and replete with references to our puraaNa-Itihaasa.
Very rarely I have seen Agastya referred to in a poem.
the story of Agastya (Kumbhaja - he was born in a pot/kumbha) drinking up ocean referred here.
Another poem which refers to this feat of Agastya is Savarkar's सागरा प्राण तळमळला.
"कथिल हे अगस्तीस आता रे
जो आचमनी एक क्षणी तुज प्याला
सागरा प्राण तळमळला.."
Furthermore, the number of times Indra defeating Vritra (Jrambha) or destroying 99 mountainous fortresses of vritra (Shaila) to release the water hoarded by the asura is referred to again and again.
Makes me wonder : When did this "excessive" browbeating Indra start?
Hindu of UP-Bihar is the one who is going to save Hindus all over India. mark my words. There will come a time very soon when Hindus south of Vindhyas will thank UP-Bihar Hindus for their birth-rate and hard-working ability.
This "jaTTa da" this and "jaTTa da" attitude of Punjab is what we call in Marathi - तोंडपाटिलकी (bragging that one is a Patil of a village, even though namesake).
It is sad. Time and again, Punjab does this, and then some Maurya/Gupta or Ghori comes and rules them for centuries
Except for personal family loss of Peshwa family and Shinde (Sindhia) family, Marathas did not lose much on Panipat. It was a shock not because number of deaths etc but number of first-line leadership deaths of these two families (and their retinue and bureaucracy)
Before Panipat, Sutlaj was de facto border. Within 2 months of Panipat, Abdali gave back all original maratha territories east fo Sutlej back to Marathas
Abdali and Afghans could never get over that debacle (until rise of Taliban)
Hindus were back in game in matter of months.
Our Armies in Gujarat, Karnatak and Nagpur-Bengal were intact.
Peshwa was en route to Delhi from Pune with another army.
So it was not a crippling blow to us militarily.
Afghans had only one army and now it was permanently crippled.
