CPAC is a global operation of the American Conservative Union and other Council for National Policy organizations. CPAC, by itself, plays a role in politics spanning four continents but claims to represent small town Americans.

Back in 1975, CPAC was described as a network of counter activist groups — the ACU, Human Events, and other organizations — interested in making the Republican party a new establishment, “The New Right.” They may be closer to reaching that goal than ever before.

The truth about #CPAC is the truth of the new Republican party altogether: wealthy D.C. conservative lobbyists connected to Trump and GOP lawmakers have convinced millions of Americans that only Democrats and Trump critics can be elitists, globalists, and liars.

The new GOP uses immigration to paint the other party as un-American, a threat to the nation's values. That's a fascist tactic.

They use obsession with a plot (stolen election, socialism, China, Q) to shut down logical thinking. That's a fascist tactic.

There are many others.

CPAC by itself is not responsible for how we got here, but the people behind CPAC -- most of them also members of the Council for National Policy -- are complicit. They do not care about what happens to the U.S. as much as they care about personal gain. trumpfile.org/cnp-list

The GOP we see today is the result of over 40 years of lobbying, strategizing, and fundraising by wealthy extremist conservatives. They used to be inside the GOP and needed events like #CPAC for a stage. Now they ARE the GOP, and the country is their stage.

If you or someone you know still has a hard time grasping that the GOP strategy is fascism, sit down and watch this video. It's no longer than an episode of The Apprentice, and it's the best comparison I've seen of fascism and the MAGA movement.
