Why is there no movement on #VenezuelaTPS? Why hasn't the new administration done this incredibly obvious and simple political lay-up?
Surely, there can be no doubt that #Venezuela presents conditions of violence, strife, chaos and unrest sufficient for #TPS.
@POTUS campaigned on a promise of TPS for #Venezuelans. It was a clear distinction between Biden's approach and Trump's big stick and nothing else approach. But maybe Venezuelans did not believe that Biden would follow through. He was part of the Obama administration, after all.
Trump, on his way out, offered #DEDVenezuela which is a lesser form of protection than #TPS. So far, @USCIS has not provided a way for people eligible for DED to seek work permits.
I don't know why @POTUS has not done #TPS for #Venezuela. It is smart politics, good policy and the right thing to do. With Florida routinely up for grabs, why wouldn't Biden be trying to lure even a small percentage of the Latin vote that went for Trump?
We need a Democratic debate about immigration. It is all the cartel boss in the White House talks about. How about having more than one dumb ass question about Dreamers in a debate? Here are some suggestions:
What does “comprehensive immigration reform” mean to you? What are essential goals of immigration reform legislation?
Besides not putting kids in cages, would your administration prioritize and facility the admission of asylum seekers and refugees, especially children?
On November 21 at 530 AM, @ICEgov officers were hanging out in a hallway in a residential building popular among Central American families in NW DC. They didn’t seem to be looking for anyone in particular.
A man opened the door to his apartment to go to work at 530 when he found the officers in the hall. They did not know his name but demanded entrance into his apartment.
They then demanded documents from everyone in the apartment. They were not looking for anyone in particular but seemed to enter this apartment because this guy was the first to leave for the day. Eight or nine ICE officers entered this one apartment.
In April 2015, the government decided that my client got her green card through fraud and they were going to do something about that.
So they initiated proceudres in the immigration court in Arlington VA go take away her green card. In those proceedings, the government must prove by clear and convincing evidence that the green card was fraudulently obtained.
In an effort to satisfy this burden, the government submitted what it called an “interview report.” This document purports to be a transcript of an interview between my client and some DHS investigators.
To recap: for four hours a group of 15 asylum seekers have sat peacefully on US soil at The Otay Mesa port of entry. They are mostly kids but there is a family who you will remember from the famous photo of the tear gassing.
They crossed into US territory which begins about twelve feet before the gate. The lawyers told @cbp that the 15 asylum seekers wish to apply for asylum. The asylum seekers sat down to show that they were not “rushing” or “storming” the border.
