Let's chat about the Sikh Caucus. So what's a caucus? A Congressional caucus is a group of members of the U.S. Congress who agree to throw their support behind a particular interest, or a specific community. (1/8)
The group representing the community's concerns and interests reaches out and initiates the process and sets the ball in motion and a caucus is created (2/8)
In a caucus the congressional representatives who join, cooperatively pursue common legislative goals as per the desired agenda of the interest group which sought its creation, in this case the Sikhs, who determine its agenda. (3/8)
The Armenian Caucus is an example of how a caucus can benefit a community and how an issue like the Armenian genocide can be raised in congress. (4/8)
If the Armenian Caucus were to be infiltrated with Turkish caucus members who deny the genocide, then the Armenian caucus would be doomed to begin with. (5/8)
Sadly, this is the case for the Sikh Caucus. Out of 33 Sikh Caucus founding members, at least 12 (1/3) were also India Caucus members who support the Modi Agenda. This number has now reached 50%. (6/8)
At the founding of the Sikh Caucus, it was affirmed that the members of the Sikh Caucus, "will not use this platform for 'foreign issues', including the 1984 anti-Sikh riots." (7/8)
You think the Sikh Caucus looks out for the welfare of Sikhs in America? Yeh, and turtles can fly. (8/8)

Hello Mr @outlawedtweet07! I usually don't respond to fake accounts but I couldn't resist this unique opportunity to educate the world on narratives. Let's start! To begin with, the "Khalistan" movement never existed. It was created by the Indian Government. (Cont)
They did this to discredit Sant Jarnail Singh Bindrawale. Why? Because he was speaking about the welfare of Punjab and its people. He was speaking on the rights of the people who live in Punjab. He spoke about the importance of Sikh history, language, art, and literature.
He also talked about the waters of Ravi and Beas. And let's not forget the most important things he stood for and brought up, standing up for ourselves. I mean we're great when fighting for India, lest we stand up for our community, all hell breaks loose.

Let’s talk about the original Kisaan Anthem, ‘Pagdi Sambhal Jatta’!

Sardar Ajit Singh, Uncle of Sardar Bhagat Singh, spearheaded the “Pagdi Sambhal Jatta” movement in 1907, to protest 3 farm laws enacted by the British.

The movement got its name on March 22, 1907, at a meeting in Lyallpur where Lala Banke Dayal, editor of Jhang Sayal, recited his poem “Pagdi Sambhal Jatta.”
The protests lasted 9 months and ended with a complete repeal of all three laws.

In the late 1800’s the Brits created a canal to draw water to an uninhabited but promising area in present day Faisalabad, Pakistan. They promised free land to the farmers who would settle there.

Hey @nstomar, have you read the bills? If not, lets start talking! I find the gaslighting abominable. And we're not asking for an amendment. We're asking for a full repeal.
and how about you take your head out of your behind and go look at the crowds.

1. Bill does not allow the farmer to approach the court. If there is a dispute, SDM will decide. If the decision is not acceptable then the farmer must approach the Joint Secretary of central govt.
a. Imagine 2-acre farmer putting a fight with Corporations or SDM or Joint Sec
2. Bill waives tax (Punjab 8.5 & Haryana 6%) collected by Mandi boards from private buyers.
a. This removes competition for private players from Mandi boards.
b. This revenue is collected from central agencies to build rural area infrastructure. Who will now fill that tax hole?

Hello! Let's talk MSP! What is MSP? Simply put, minimum support price is an agricultural product price, set by the GOI to purchase directly from the farmer.
#MSPLawForAllCrops
#FarmersProtest
MSP was created to ensure a minimum profit for the farmer in case the market price was below the cost of harvesting produce. GOI set prices for 23 commodities twice a year
#MSPLawForAllCrops

This allowed farmers to ask for competitive rates for produce because they knew they had a guaranteed buyer if deals didn't go through.

Let’s talk farming and fertilisers! So green revolution onwards, Punjab had a heavy dependency on fertilisers. Chemicals were heavily used in fertilisers which were so heavily used in farming that they didn’t just remain in the soil, (con't)

#farmersprotest
they also leached into the waterway systems. And of course, in Punjab, everyone uses wells right? So all the drinking water was polluted with dozens of chemicals that are harmful. This is why Punjab (Malwa region especially) has such a high rate of cancer.
#FarmersProtest
There are other diseases and illnesses linked to this as well. You will also find brithdefects and sterility. Skin cancer and respiratory cancer are most prevalent. A lot of farmers are spraying their crops without any protective gear, so it easily gets into their airways.

Let's talk corporates! Namely PepsiCo!
In the early 90's PepsiCo wanted to see soft drinks in India. At that time, only CocoCola had managed to get into the Indian market and they had pretty much taken over.
#FarmersMakeIndia
#FarmersProtest
GOI set the condition, that PepsiCo must also open up a food processing plants in India. So, PepsiCo moved into Punjab and set up contracts with local farmers for tomatoes and chilli which they were able to use for their sister company PizzaHut.

Then in the late 90's, PepsiCo sold/closed the factories and just decided that they were no longer going to do contract farming in Punjab. BUT during this time they had also entered into contract farming in Gujarat for potatoes.
