Okay, now that we got that out of the way, let's make it happen.
It'll be easy, just follow along.
4/ Write down all the things you need to do to make that thing happen. Here are some questions to get you started.
1. Who can help you get what you want? 2. What do you need to do to get what you want? 3. When are you going to get what you want?
5/ NOW STOP! Stop everything you are doing. We are doing this all wrong.
Do me a favor, instead of answering those questions, answer these...👇
6/ Write down all the things you would need to do to NOT MAKE THAT THING HAPPEN.
1. Who would hinder you getting what you want? 2. What would prevent you from getting what you want? 3. When would it be difficult to get what you want?
7/ You might be thinking this is a ridiculous exercise. It might seem like that, but stick with me.
Let me introduce you to Inversion.
Inversion is a mental model used to improve decision making so you can live a happier, healthier, and wealthier life.
8/ Inversion is thinking about the ways you would not get something, so you can ultimately get what you want.
We are programmed to think about the things we need to do. Instead, we should be thinking about things we don't need to do.
9/ By identifying the things we don't need to do, we narrow our scope of the things we need to do.
The more things we can identify - that would inhibit us from getting what we want - the more things we can focus on to get closer to what we want.
10/ What does inversion look like in practice? Let's explore.
Here is @FerraroOnAir exploring the WORST opening question in conversation history
The most successful people are able to make the best decisions.
In this thread, you will learn how to improve your decision making👇🧵
1/ I never thought of decision making as something that could be learned.
Throughout life, I have been programmed to think of decision making as a pros and cons exercise where I source a lot of people's opinions and choose the one that is most favorable
2/ Decision making is much more than pros/cons lists
It is something that can be learned over time.
Your ability to make effective decisions is a muscle you can build.
