Just to clarify here for everyone that reads this thread. 4 years I have been patient on this. And trust me, if I wanted to be a dick, I could easily release documents which would make very uncomfortable reading for the Health Secretary, but I haven't. But it's coming!
But the long and short of it (and many followers have seen this develop over the years) is that on 9th Feb 2017 I was denied remedial surgery to fix issue caused by NHS Fife's consistent failures over a decade. This ended up with the SPSO who took 2 years to investigate...
They released their final report on 2nd May 2019 and told NHS Fife to comply with the ruling by 28th June 2019. It is now 4 years (9th Feb 2021) since the initial complaint and despite NHS Fife agreeing with the ruling they have still not complied with the SPSO.
The Health Secretary will not become involved until a section 16 special report to parliament is issued by the SPSO but the SPSO has never issued one in its 20 year history.
The SPSO does not want to issue one (and there is actually no policy for the implementation of one) because that would mean admitting defeat to make a public service comply with her ruling to politicians.
And so the complaint sits in a catch 22 with the public service laughing.
Since the ruling, the public service has lied to NHS Lothian, tried to restrain NHS Grampian under a non-disclosure agreement. Both of those two...
...resulting in the doctors dropping the second opinions out of conflict of interest (because what doctor wants to be a patsy). A failed second opinion from NHS England and attempting to gain an opinion from Glasgow, excluding the patient (me) from the process...
...and disallowing any self-advocacy about the matters in question.
All of this nonsense is having direct and serious issues for my health. The use of a walking aid means that I am losing fine motor function in my hands. I have burns to my mouth, throat and lungs from acid.
I likely now have issues with my heart because of increased blood pressure - the surgery would have wiped out my type II diabetes (90% chance) had it been conducted 4 years ago, but likely not now.
Long story short - the Health Secretaries unwillingness to do her job is actively destroying my health. And trust me this is just the tip of the iceberg because I haven't even gone into the fact that during all of this, the same people responsible at the board were...
...emboldened enough to try and write my mother off and deny her a second opinion for 5 months on the original diagnosis resulting in a 5 month slugging match. and when forced to deliver that second opinion? It found they'd misdiagnosed her with cancer!
No! That's not a joke! Cancer! They were so consumed with covering their own asses, emboldened by policies with absolutely no accountability and zero repercussions that for 5 months we were made to believe our mother had cancer!
So you can imagine after 4 years I have a right to speak out!

Do you ever get the impression that when Johnson decides on cabinet members he asks if they have any experience and the response is:
Well gosh! No! But I'm willing to give it a bash!
The cabinet of government should be treated like the board of a multi-national company (no! not filled with cronnies) in my view along the lines of some advice a good friend of mine (who is CEO of a multi-national) once told me.
He said to me, that the job of a CEO is not to know everything about the company. It is to be a generalist and look at the big picture. This is why there are other directors. It is the job of directors to be specialised in the departments they oversee and then give...
Something I am seeing with regularity now is "I'm voting SNP 1/2 in the hope that they MIGHT get a majority". This statement genuinely knocks the wind out of me, and let me be clear, I am not criticising the people saying it. I'm criticising the PR guys at the SNP for...
...perpetuating the myth when they know that SNP1/2 just does not work.
And many will say: "but martin, the reason the SNP lost a majority in 2016 was that people didn't all vote SNP in both lists"...and that I am afraid to say is also false.
The reason the SNP didn't get a majority in 2016 was because of the 2014 referendum and because the ass has fallen out of labour in Scotland. (No! I am not kidding).
For the second time in my life, I find myself having to choose between abandoning a case or to turn and fight. This case, however, has much higher stakes. My life. Unfortunately, it seems the counsel I had to hire in this case (on contingency) doesn't have the ability...
...to see it through. Being a carer, hiring a lawyer on retainer is a no-go, and the costs of doing so would far exceed the sum sought (which is the cost of a surgery which was denied due to discrimination - a mere £12K which would actually save the taxpayer hundreds...
...of thousands over the long run). Ergo, the choice I have to make is to fight it myself personally, vs Yet again, the full force of the public purse. Or to have a shortened lifespan. Not much of a choice here really.
Current figures show that SNP likely to take Willie Rennies seat in constituency ballot in Mid-Scotland and Fife - this means SNP to be 10 times more penalised than the other parties (rather than 9 times more) than the other parties.
It does not matter which maths you use for Mid-Scotland and Fife, the SNP will get zero seats on the regional ballot. They get 120K votes and would need at least (with 9 seats in the constituency) 46000 extra votes just to get 1 regional list seat.
That goes up to nearly 60K extra votes for one single seat in Mid-Scotland and Fife if they also take rennies seat in the constituency.
So! It's almost a mathematical certainty that the 120K votes in the regional list in MSF will be entirely wasted.
I note the 9 SNP supporters who have hit unfollow with respect to my disparaging remarks regarding the health secretary. Fair enough. But when you or one of your family members becomes a victim of said policy and it damages their health. Look back and remember -
You had the opportunity to actually call out a bad policy that allows such things to happen and you chose instead to turn away from it. That's on you, but I am through holding my words on this.
It would not be so bad, were it not for the fact that this is not an isolated incident. You only need look at the review sites of the SPSO and you will see how bad it is. It is therefore in the interests of your party to fix this deficient policy before it truly backfires.
I note in the response to Alex Rowley MSP, @JeaneF1Freeman mentions NHS Fife attempting to get a second opinion from NHS England and NHS Glasgow. You failed to mention, however, Jeane, the fact that they went to lothian and lothian dropped it because...
...they were lied to by NHS Fife and also because NHS Fife failed to disclose to the SPSO that the lothian and fife services had merged 3 months prior to the SPSO's ruling meaning they were trying to send it to themselves. The false claims with respect to clinical status...
....resulting in the doctor at NHS Lothian dropping it due to conflict of interest. I also note your failure to disclose to Mr. Rowley the fact that they then went to NHS Grampian and that the doctor didn't go ahead with that second opinion because NHS Fife tried to...
