Learning about common scams can help you combat fraud. As @USAGov said, fraudsters target consumers when they file their taxes, shop online, or talk to people on dating apps and websites. The #FBI has tips to help you protect yourself. #SlamTheScamChat
Tax Scams: Beware of fraudsters who pretend to work for the IRS. The @IRSnews won't call you to demand you pay your taxes with a prepaid debit card or wire transfer. If an IRS imposter calls you this #TaxSeason, file a report at ic3.gov. #SlamTheScamChat@USAGov
Online Shopping Scams: When you shop online, confirm whether a website is secure and reputable before providing personal and financial information. Beware of suspicious websites and advertisements that offer brand name merchandise at extremely low prices. #SlamTheScamChat@USAGov
Romance Scams: Romance scammers use dating apps and websites to steal victims' money and break their hearts. Never send money to someone you have only met online. You can learn more at fbi.gov/romancescams. #SlamTheScamChat@USAGov

#ICYMI: During a congressional hearing this week, #FBI Director Christopher Wray discussed how end-to-end encryption threatens the FBI’s mission to protect the American people from federal crimes, including crimes against children, cyberattacks, and terrorism.
Wray: We are concerned that ... no matter how bulletproof or ironclad the legal authority, no matter how compelling the facts and circumstances, no matter how horrific the crime ... we will not be able to get access to the content that we need to keep people safe.
Wray: What we have been suggesting ... is for the companies themselves to build in a way to have legal access when confronted with a proper legal authority so that they can get access to information and provide it in response to a warrant or a court order.

Memorial services were held Saturday and Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Law enforcement officers escorted the caskets to the stadium, where #FBI Director Christopher Wray eulogized both agents.
“On Tuesday, we lost not one of our own, but two,” Wray said at the services. “Two warriors who took on one of the hardest jobs in the FBI—crimes against children.”
Director Christopher Wray’s Statement on Violent Activity at the U.S. Capitol Building ow.ly/dFsX50D2CR4
Director Wray: The violence and destruction of property at the U.S. Capitol building yesterday showed a blatant and appalling disregard for our institutions of government and the orderly administration of the democratic process.
Director Wray: As we’ve said consistently, we do not tolerate violent agitators and extremists who use the guise of First Amendment-protected activity to incite violence and wreak havoc. Such behavior betrays the values of our democracy.
#FBI Director Christopher Wray participated in the World Economic Forum's cybersecurity summit today to discuss the heart of the FBI’s cyber strategy: working with government and private partners to tackle the cyber threat as a global community. @wefow.ly/JsLN50Cmhqg
Wray: At the #FBI, we’ve been fighting the cyber threat for many years now. ... We’ve become known for our efforts to call out destabilizing and damaging #cyber activity by nation-state actors. But we are also particularly focused on the threat posed by cybercriminals. @wef
Wray: Just like we’ve done throughout our 112-year history of fighting crime and terrorism, our goal is to impose risk and consequences on bad actors in cyberspace—whoever and wherever they are. @wef
Ugoretz: The cyber threats we're most concerned about involve foreign actors using global infrastructure to compromise U.S. networks. It’s not the type of threat activity that any single U.S. agency or private entity [can] anticipate, detect, and respond to completely on our own.
Ugoretz: Our strategy is to impose risk and consequences on our cyber adversaries—those who for too long have believed they can compromise U.S. networks, steal U.S. financial and intellectual property, and hold our critical infrastructure at risk—all without incurring any risk.
#FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich will join our partners from the @TheJusticeDept for a press conference today regarding a national security matter. You can watch live at 1 p.m. EST via justice.gov/live.
