#BombayHighCourt will shortly begin hearing the plea filed by #ArnabGoswami assailing his arrest and detention by the Raigad police in the FIR accusing him of abetment to suicide of interior designer Anvay Naik and the subsequent chargesheet filed in the matter.

Bench of Justices SS Shinde and Manish Pitale had granted time to Goswami’s lawyers to carry out “chargesheet related amendments” to the plea.

Hearing begins.

Adv Niranjan Mundargi appearing for Goswami submits that Sr Adv Harish Salve leads him in this matter and requests for the matter to be kept back till 12.30.

Sr Adv Kapil Sibal appearing for the State submits: Let me make it easier for the otherside. I will continue my statement till the next date of hearing which is March 16, 2021.

Adv Mundargi intervenes and points out that this is a different matter.

Justice Shinde points out that the #TRPScam is also listed on the production board. There was some issue at the registry due to which it was not listed on the daily board.

Adv Malvika Trivedi appearing for Goswami requests for a video conference hearing in both matters.

Justice Shinde however refuses any such request stating that Sr Adv Salve had agreed to March 16 and had stated that if he is not available someone else can fill in for him.

Justice Shinde also states that since Sibal has agreed to extend the statement till the next date, there is no question of taking up that matter for hearing.

Mundargi requests for #ArnabGoswami - Raigad Police to be taken up at 12.30 for short hearing.

Justice Shinde agrees. Saya he will call out matter at end of board.

Matter is called out again.

Adv Malvika Trivedi requests for exemption of personal appearance of #ArnabGoswami before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Raigad police till the hearing of the pending application in the High Court.

Justice Shinde allows the request. Grants interim exemption from appearance till the next date of hearing.

The matter has been posted for hearing on April 16, 2021.
