1/ Much anticipated guidance released today from CDC for those who are fully vaccinated (> 2 weeks after second dose Moderna/Pfizer, or single dose J&J) - link below + more details/thoughts

2/ Here are the key recommendations but I urge you to click the link to read more details about each of these scenarios/ situations #covid19

3/ Important graphic here summarizing private gatherings among those who are all vaccinated or if you have a combination of fully vaccinated + unvaccinated AND low risk in small private setting

The latter would hinge on vaxx being unlikely to spread (although not impossible)

4/ And the reason this calculus would change if there’s any high risk person in the home is because even w/ the smaller risk of spread, the chance for a bad health outcome for a high risk unvaxx’d person is still there. #covid19

5/ “For example, fully vaccinated grandparents can visit indoors with their unvaccinated healthy daughter and her healthy children without wearing masks or physical distancing, provided none of the unvaccinated family members are at risk of severe #COVID19.”

6/ The CDC recommends against maskless medium or larger gatherings but don’t give absolute numbers on this

Helpful to think in terms of rate of community spread, number of people, duration of time, ventilation indoors, and distancing

7/ while they acknowledge that other activities, like gyms & restaurants, are lower risk for vaccinated people, with high rates of community #covid19 transmission, precautions still must be taken in these settings until we have reached much higher levels of vaccination

“Currently authorized vaccines in the US are highly effective at protecting vaxx’d people against symptomatic & severe COVID-19. Additionally, a growing body of evidence suggests that fully vaccinated people are less likely to have asymptomatic infection...”

9/ “& potentially less likely to transmit SARS-CoV-2 to others. How long vaccine protection lasts and how much vaccines protect against emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants are still under investigation.”

Waiting to understand duration/strength of immune protection

10/ “Until more is known and vaccination coverage increases, some prevention measures will continue to be necessary for all people, regardless of vaccination status.”

Vaccines are the most important tool we have right now.

Efforts should be focused on ramping up our vaccine distribution even further.
