my neighbor, who is unfortunately an alcoholic, has tapped into the creative madness of the studio and attached a microwave to his riding lawnmower. its attached. im looking at it sitting on the concrete patio. an object of terrifying beauty, like the angels in the duino elegies
unless im lowkey living next to the next tesla i have to imagine it is just there for safekeeping. i can see the cord hanging but not where it leads. could it be connected to some power source. dare i dream such a dream. new vistas of my mind are opening, heralding a new time
upon further scrutiny i cannot confirm that the microwave is securely attached. i am observing from a distance. i may get closer and attempt to draw up some kind of schematic. if i fail to return please assume that some agency, such as the ATF or the r0ckefellers were involved.
i looked inside the microwave and there is a smaller version of both of our houses inside, complete with a smaller version of the microwave mower. this smaller fractal microwave cooker is on, it appears to be cooking some type of corn pyramid (this last part is not real).
one thing about watching a ton of debates (while working) on a variety of different topics is when i jump into a new one i can instantly tell who actually has the stronger argument based on the fact that when backed into a corner people make the same appeals, regardless of topic
im interested in what i would call this type of "innate rhetoric", it obviously isnt officially learned, but it could be in religion, politics, some totally unrelated field, when people get "pinned down" the instinctually reach for a handful of "outs", intuitively. fascinating.
for example i just put on some random street debate + after one guy makes a statement the other guy is like "yeah, i just wonder why you're doing this like, why do you care so much", the brain has this self defense feature naturally built in like a spider knows how to make a web
dudes out here really trying to throw something out the window and have it stop halfway down smDh
i rarely promise things but i can 100% assure u that the most intelligent questions you will ever ask yourself will make you sound like an absolute idiot to normal people if they heard them
perhaps obvious but i suspect that large amounts of space was a massive factor in americas individualist streak. everywhere ive lived ive had at least one close neighbor infringing on me in a variety of ways and it gives me a visceral possibly illogical reaction to libertarianism
i used to be punk rock say no to rules guy but after the shaking the room techno at 3am neighbor and the playing trumpet at night neighbor and the guy who made my wife sick with cigarette smoke an atavistic part of me is ready to 1984 big brother up. perhaps this explains britain
“would you trade freedom for comfort”
me generally: of course not
me when i can hear my neighbor through my headphones:
[me, lighting a cigarette and enjoying the few seconds before i ruin an otherwise lovely family dinner, watching the smoke curl and disappear in the anticipatory silence. i exhale]:
saw this story making the rounds. used to work with art people. u have to realize the people running this dr seuss organization probably hate him. thats usually how it is. look at this: the decision to do this was made long ago but they announced it on his birthday, to spite him:
you, naturally, as a sane person, would think, “oh, this person works at XYZ Artists Foundation, they must love XYZ artist”. thats not how it is. usually its just a job for them and theyre actually the most critical of the artist, you can usually hear the spite in their voice.
to be fair, its split. you get into this scene of people and its one way or the other, they either really love the art or they think its stupid that anyone cares and they view their “customers” with the same disdain, more actually, than the average cashier (cashier life what up)
great example of the classic socially enforced double bind, wherein if you dont want to do X youre insane / evil but if you eagerly do X your motives are questioned. its structured so that no matter which path you choose, ultimately lateral policing of behavior comes out on top
101 but “the spectacle” can be modeled as a biological organism that spontaneously generates these types of things to ensure that its always reinforced. another great one is that not caring about countries is bad but caring too much gives you a neocolonial ”savior” complex
yesterday a friend was telling me about their boss who does all this charity work for + in africa and used the term “white savior”, but then when i pressed her on if it would be better to not care about that she completely flipped, because its not about the actual position.
