A Florida magistrate judge has decided that Paul Miller will remain in custody leading up to his trial.
antihate.ca/neo_nazi_paul_…
Miller's day in court was originally meant to weigh if he'd be held in custody before his trial on the original count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. This stems from an incident in 2018.
As the proceedings got underway, the prosecutor added possession charges for a short barrel rifle & 400+ rounds of ammunition found after his property was raided by the FBI. Parts of the rifle were found hidden in a dryer.
His lawyer, Norman Kent, indicated that Miller would be retaining new counsel after the day’s proceedings. Kent is a criminal attorney, cannabis activist, and prominent member of the south Florida LGBTQ community.
Kent painted Miller as an entertainer & sought to shift the blame onto his fans. However the FBI pointed to video of in-person confrontations with Black people where Miller would shout slurs & harass them, including threats of violence

Miller titled the clips "N***** Encounters"
No charges for uttering threats were added, but it was also revealed that the FBI is still investigating Miller in this regard and may have located a victim.

#superstraight is the latest in hateful, transphobic, far-right trends to hit the internet intended to cause outrage, harm, and undermine the struggle of the LGBTQ2+ community while seeking mainstream attention.

It’s an op - and you shouldn’t fall for it.
1/ A collection of anti-LGBTQ2...
Coined by a TikTok user, the concept is portrayed as a “new sexuality” that describes straight & cis men & women who are only attracted to biological members of the opposite sex
It’s trans, queer & homophobia with a clear intent to upset, harm, radicalize & get media coverage
2/
It picked up steam & landed where common sense & human decency go to die: 4chan. /pol/ jumped on the idea as a radicalization tool while harming trans & queer folks & added the SS lightning bolts to the flag.

“Push super straight. It makes tr****** seethe” one post reads.

Éric Duhaime has excused Islamophobic hate crimes, given lofty coverage to far-right politicians, and worked alongside haters like Faith Goldy. Now, he’s running for office - with the support of three Canadian senators.

Best known as a conservative radio host & former Rebel correspondent, Duhaime has a history of making inflammatory and racist comments on the air. He’s now vying for leadership of the Conservative Party of Québec.
2/
He’s argued that racist street gang Atalante’s calls for “remigration,” meaning the deportation of non-white immigrants, was not hateful. And argued the Black community has “few heroes that they can be proud of” & that “when they do have heroes, they turn out to be zeroes.”

As many have pointed out, the attempted coup last week is shocking, but not surprising. So many of us have been ringing alarm bells for years. Now, we have to track the aftermath - and the Canadian connection.
Washington DC’s angry mob led to “meanwhile in Canada” memes & the familiar phrase “we are not immune,” but to anyone paying attention, this rhetoric has already been living here for a long time.

Even after Trump’s concession, neo-Nazis and accelerationists have been emboldened by the assault on the capitol. Now they’re looking to it as a potential recruitment drive.

Just like after Charlottesville, Canadians are asking if what happened in Washington DC could happen north of the border. The tragic part is we don’t need to wonder what extremism will look like in Canada.

It’s already here.
