1/ THREAD It's upsetting as a disabled person with a son who has Autism to see @novaramedia media ignoring the backlash from @AaronBastani's interview with Peter Singer
He says disabled babies aren't equal to non disabled kids &
those with learning disabilities can't be raped
2/ I like @novaramedia on some things, which is why it's even more disappointing they've not said anything in response.
Disabled people are often used as a campaign tool, but when we raise concerns, we're ignored.
Singer has a long history if frankly abhorrent ableism. See next
3/ Singer in his 1979 book; Practical Ethics
“Human babies are not born self-aware, or capable of grasping that they exist over time. They are not persons the life of a newborn is of less value than the life of a pig, a dog, or a chimpanzee.”
4/ In July 2020 Singer defended his stance on allowing parents to euthanise a disabled child.
7/ In June 2020, Singer argued the elderly or disabled should receive less treatment for COVID than young or able-bodied people because saving our lives would lead to more people living in ill health or with disabilities which is a burden on society.
8/ In 2017 Singer argued if someone is too intellectually inhibited to understand the notion of consent they can’t withhold it. And if they don't fight back, it’s reasonable to assume they're having a good time.
9/ I hope those at @novaramedia such as @AaronBastani@AyoCaesar & @michaeljswalker can understand why Disabled People are extremely hurt by their interview of Peter Singer without any real pushback on his abhorrent views.
Disabled people need allies and this isn't it.
END
10/ PLEASE Sign this petition asking @novaramedia to acknowledge the hurt they've caused with their cozy interview with Peter Singer.
It may not have been their intention, but understanding disabled people's concerns is really important.

I'll be giving a presentation on claiming #UniversalCredit as a disabled person.

She's giving a talk in Key and Emerging Issues for Social Security in England.

Key points.
• Younger
• More ethnically diverse
• More Uni Graduates
• 1 size fits all not working
1) Cooper only cited a Facebook based news org in original post. Now it's "sources." 2) I don't see a journo revealing a source, especially if it's Stephen Miller. 3) With 610k followers it's really irresponsible to spread unverified reports like this.
Mark Francois MP has been paying a consultancy company called Westminster Digital Ltd, formerly Westminster Analytics Ltd, thousands of £s over the past two years.
They've no accounts since Dec 18, £4k turnover.... & deleted all their clients from website.
2/ Their "Government" work is listed as a Boris Johnson Election video, therefore a Tory Party PR campaign not Government, and a Video on an Australia/UK Free Trade Agreement.
Seems @BorisJohnson and the @Conservatives didn't want this picture of him with ex Express owner turned property developer Richard Desmond going around.
There's more than one to be fair....
Shame that......
Also seems relevant that Boris Johnson has had numerous dealings with Thorncliffe, the firm used by Phillip Desmond for the Tower Hamlets scheme.
They even wrote an article when he was running for Tory leader, complete with a with dream cabinet....
