Up to now, 110 political parties registered (provisionally) in #Somalia,

#Somalis want a democratic state;

The current dispute & delay over the indirect election is due to ONE factor: the outgoing president is scheming to openly and unabashedly engineer his reelection;

The outgoing Prez had a freehand in 3 local elections and he rigged them ALL, hence the VITAL & sacred duty to protect the national election;

In the #Southwest election, he arrested one contender and exiled the other & when the UN envoy said this is not good, he was PNG-ed;

During elections in #Hirshabelle & #Galmudug, no credible contender stood against Farmaajo allies because the process was rigged & outcome was already known;

THUS:

#Puntland, #Jubaland & #Mogadishu Opposition are the bulwark against a dictatorship in Somalia; I solute them;

During his 4 year reign, Prez Farmaajo illegally sacked the Chief Justice, Speaker of Parliament & Prime Minister; renditioned a citizen to torturers

Administratively (or lack thereof), he appointed 6 chief of staff for his office & 5 commanders for military, security & police

There are Somalis who naively or for clannish reasons imbibe Farmaajo’s misinformation & who paint him as a national hero & a victim;

To them I say: you are like Trump’s irrational, ill-formed & unhinged admirers;

We are speaking up because — unlike you — we want to be free.
