1/ It seems like there is a lot of misinformation about the border-biden-children in trump era reopened detention shelters.
Here are some verifiable facts:
1- These trump era detention centers are being converted into processing facilities due the increase in border crossings

2/ The Biden admin's goal is to reduce processing time to no longer than 72 hours, abiding by the Flores settlement agreement.
Processing will include health screenings a& criminal background checks all in one spot.
- 10 day covid quarantine
- More facilities = less crowding

3/ Parents with children may be released with orders to appear in court, HOWEVER, Some parents may not be released if they have previously been deported, are a flight risk, a danger to national security or have a criminal record.
Avg detention now is 42 days, goal is less than21

4/ The Biden administration is saving tax payers money, saving time, misery and waste by converting these trump era facilities to one stop shop for processing, health screening, background checks and asylum evaluation.
This shit takes time. Read past the headlines

5/ Things that are NOT happening at these detention centers:
- Destroyed paperwork.
- Threatening parents with deportation or " misplacing/losing their children" if they complain
- Inhumane conditions like no soap/no toilet paper remember?

6/ There was a change in the country's politics, it is spring time. Both mean more people try to cross the border. Thisis a regular cycle.
CBP facilities are not designed to hold children, and agents are not trained to properly care for them.
Hence using these facilities.

7/ Some are upset why the Biden admin is approaching this slowly changing trump era crap.
Others are upset thinking the Biden admin is having a free for all open borders.
It is just partisan hackery from both sides.
This border issue is a HUMAN issue
These are HUMAN BEINGS

8/ We have laws/procedures that can be improved/scaled to match the flow.
Border issues will never end. What is important is how we balance applying laws/rules/enforcement with humanity.
No one walks a thousand miles with a child dodging cartels dreaming to take ur food stamps.

10/ I am going to add one more to this thread because I am salty.
Guess who made sure your veggies/chicken/beef/pork made it to your grocery stores with zero lag during the entire pandemic?
The answer: 90% were undocumented immigrants in fields rain or shine, everyday.

11/ this while governors of some states flat out refused to consider these undocumented farm workers critical workers
AND
Some even went as far to deny them access to covid vaccines THIS YEAR.
