I have cleaned three fountain pens and refilled them with ink in preparation for a new writing project.
Cleaning and refilling pens, getting my fingers stained with ink, testing out the new colours: acts of meditation.
I am relatively new to the world of fountain pens and inks. For those asking:
Pens: Lamy Safari is a favourite because it is not so expensive - around $20 depending on where you shop. Pens can be super expensive.
Inks: Diamine which have an extensive range of colours and Herbin
I love vivid, saturated colours for my inks. I usually use shades of blue, purple and green. Like my eyeliner!
The world of pens & ink can be super $$$, exclusive and snobbish. I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to be any of those things to enjoy fountain pens 💜✊🏽❤️
And if your new and curious, there are so many wonderful people who often share their pen & ink stories who I’m sure are glad to share recommendations.
I’m seeing suggestions already in the replies 🥰🥰
And for those asking about notebooks:
A good range is Maruman, especially Mnemosyne.

The chapter on Violence in The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls is the most controversial of the "sins." I stand in the disturbance and discomfort caused by the questions I've posted in it. An excerpt feministgiant.com/p/how-many-rap…
I insist you stand in that discomfort and disturbance too, because women, girls, nonbinary and queer people face more than disturbance and discomfort -- they are dying, and patriarchy shows little concern.
Fuck the patriarchy in every time zone and in every universe. The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls is out in Ireland and the UK on 22 April via @TrampPress. Pre-order here feministgiant.com/p/the-seven-ne…
Whether we are urged to be civil to racists or polite to patriarchy, the goal is the same: to maintain the power of the racist, to maintain the power of patriarchy.
We must reject politeness; there is nothing polite about patriarchy. We must reject civility; there is nothing civil about racism or misogyny.
Patriarchy insists it controls everything, including our mouths. When our mouths threaten that control, patriarchy insists we shut them.
I refuse to be polite or civil with anyone who does not acknowledge my full humanity. Profanity for me is political, not just personal. Profanity is politically important.
“To speak out vs a powerful political figure...is almost to give up before you even start. How can we get Adji Sarr the support she needs at this time? We fail her when we only stick to the narrative of the powerful, even when that powerful person has been a victim of the state”
“When we fail to question why the leader is asking for charges to be dropped and the young woman’s in hiding, her life in danger, the democracy and freedom we are screaming while waving the Senegalese flag is not for everyone.” #FreeSenegal#FreeAdjiSarr
