Two weeks ago, @JessReports and I (with the help of internet sleuths) broke a story exposing Danny “DJ”Rodriguez as the Trump fan who tased Officer Mike Fanone. No public action against him yet, but it’s very likely a larger conspiracy case is in works. huffpost.com/entry/fanone-t…
Our story on Rodriguez noted a few other LA area Trump fanatics involved in the Capitol attack, including salon owner Gina Bisignano (who was arrested way back in January and appears to have been in a Telegram group with Rodriguez). huffpost.com/entry/fanone-t…
But there’s a much larger network of LA area Trump extremists, and many of them might end up getting tied together in a federal criminal conspiracy. Stay tuned...
“...a rioter pulled Officer M.F. into the crowd, where members of the crowd beat, tased, and robbed Officer M.F. of his MPD badge (#3603), police radio, and MPD-issued 17-round magazine, while also trying to forcibly remove his service weapon from its fixed holster.”
“'I am in the White House!… We’re in the White House!… We’re inside the White House. Our house.’”
“WITCHER later clarified during his interview that he was so emotional and invested in the moment, he briefly forgot he was in the Capitol building, and not the White House."
Proud Boys member Christopher Worrell (aka #SgtPepperSprayer) arrested today. Affidavit cites "open-source materials located on various Twitter accounts.” #SeditionHunters
"WORRELL was extremely agitated and upset that the FBI was at his house… He also became agitated when asked about the Proud Boys. WORRELL stated that 'the Proud Boys were not a racist white supremacist group like the media tries to portray.’” documentcloud.org/documents/2051…
Once again in this case, a federal magistrate judge in the defendant’s home state ordered him released. Government appealed, and D.C. Chief Judge Beryl Howell granted a motion for an emergency stay. Hearing next week.
“Don’t piss off software developers,” says @jsrailton, calling @jan6evidence a “ridiculously helpful tool” that shows how citizen sleuthing efforts have matured.
NEW: Republicans are going to try to claim that they’re attacking Vanita Gupta because they “back the blue." The problem? “The blue” backs Vanita Gupta. huffpost.com/entry/republic…
“I do not support defunding the police,” Gupta says. She says society places too many problems at the feet of police, and there’s a need for investment in up front solutions.
"For too long, we have placed... so many of our nation's social problems at the feet of police," Vanita Gupta said in response to a question about whether she supported "defunding the police." (She doesn't.) Says society puts too much of a burden on law enforcement.
