(1) Thread: Military women.

Even when I was a Trump supporter I didn't have much time for this under achieving trust fund kid. Like DJT, Don Jr continues to say and do things that damage the GOP.
(2) Former President Trump has lost the support of many Americans, esp. where LEOs and military are concerned.

He did not have their back on 1/6. He, like all of us, knew that political violence was likely that day, and he did absolutely nothing to try to prevent or reduce it. Image
(3) Tucker's comments about women in the military were monumentally stupid. Women are allowed to enlist and, as such, their uniforms should fit properly, especially life-saving body armor. Most military personnel are not in combat zones most, let alone all of the time.
(4) If a woman deploys and then learns she is pregnant, that is something that her commanding officer will take into account in decision-making. She's entitled to things like maternity clothing. It might take months before she can return home, for example.

(1) Actor Stacey Dash spoke to the Daily Mail & as per usual the far left are calling her the Devil incarnate no matter what she says, & the far right (aka the Trump faction of the GOP) don't like her now, either.

As a radical centrist, I get her.

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9…
(2) Pretty much the whole DM article takes Dash's words & twists them so far from what she said that it's pointless to read them.

Just read HER words.

She's right to call the 1/6 riot "appalling and stupid." Many MAGA public figures said that day "enough is enough."
(3) Stacey Dash is never getting off of that Hollywood blacklist but I'm sure she thought about that before her #WalkAway from Democrats in 2012.

Yes, 2012. The first Obama term was all she could take. Like many others, Trump had nothing to with her change of party support.

(1) After decades of studying & working in politics, I finally realized it's better to have a leader who is a team player than someone who goes it alone.

That's essentially what Trump did, esp. during the 2020-2021 transition. He took advice from the wrong people.
(2) Trump's refusal to take sane legal and political advice in the last 6 months or so is #WhyYouGotBiden.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be comfortable about a Biden-Harris White House, but I am. And here's why:
(3) The framers designed a system with a plethora of checks and balances. In January 2021 the system worked.

Congress was able to ensure the election result would stand. Eventually.

The framers gave Congress more power than the President. Don't believe me? Okay.

(1) The case of US DEA Agent Mark Ibrahim at the Capitol riot on 1/6 .

Interesting from a number of angles.

reuters.com/article/us-usa…
(2) According to Reuters, one of Mark Ibrahim's lawyers is Gretchen Gaspari.

Have a read about Mr and Mrs Gaspari and USC:

dailytrojan.com/2020/07/14/emp…
(3) As usual, the far left and the far right have already sent out their talking points regarding Mark Ibrahim.

The left are asking why he is suspended not fired.

Answer: There's this pesky thing called due process, & if you deny it to a person, they can end up walking free.

(1) This is just the long form version of Matt Schlapp's tweet about the stage design during CPAC.

Trump & allies verbally attack anyone who doesn't toe their line. They do it to frighten others.

The fault for the stage design rests solely with CPAC. ImageImageImage
(2) Also, it's time to bust some myths.

Using a (very) well known Nazi symbol as the literal stage design at a conference is not just about antisemitism.

Many groups were brutally attacked by the Third Reich.
(3) The MAGA talking points about Nazism always incl. mention of the Jewish people, which is good, but then they claim no one in their mvt could be antisemitic bc MAGA policies have been so good for the Jewish ppl.

(Those MAGA policies were a big part of why I was once MAGA.)

(1) The term "Texas 100%" is trending because Gov Abbott used some hyperbole in his statement below.

I think he was unwise to do this and it doesn't help turn down the temperature in the politics of his state or country.

Read the statement:

gov.texas.gov/news/post/gove…
(2) Abbott said: "By next Wednesday, about 7 million shots will have been administered in Texas and over half of seniors in Texas will have received a vaccine shot. By the end of March, every senior who wants a vaccine should be able to get one."
(3) And "The vaccine supply continues to increase so rapidly that more and more Texans will soon be eligible to receive a vaccine."

IMO it is foolish for a governor to send a message that life can return to normal because mitigation factors "should be" effective for all.

(1) Dear old Prince Philip is still in hospital, & has been moved to a specialist heart hospital after 13 days in the more "general" King Edward VII's hospital. They say he doesn't have Covid, so that's something. I love this man; Father of the nation.

bbc.com/news/uk-562413…
(2) Prince Philip was born on June 10, 1921. So, there is a big birthday coming up. The Queen can't visit him in hospital bc of the pandemic. They've both been vaccinated but aren't taking any risks. I can understand that.

It's a miracle he has lived this long. We're grateful. Image
(3) The royal household hasn't been very forthcoming about the nature of the prince's condition. He is being treated for an infection and is said to be feeling much better. He had cardiac stents placed in 2011. I think it's good that he's now in the heart hospital.
