There has never been a better time to create something of your own.

Here is a list of 5 side-projects you can start while having a 9-5 job:

[THREAD] 👇
1/ Ebook

- Pick a topic you worked on for years

- Write it down, don't bother about format or clarity.

- Re-read it a couple of times, remove everything unnecessary.

- Ask a few friends to read it. Ask them to ROAST IT.

- Use a 6x9” page and a 12pt font
🤩 Inspiration:

- @dvassallo: AWS the good part: gumroad.com/l/aws-good-par…

- @arvidkahl: he wrote zerotosold (gumroad.com/a/8820849), and a second book is coming!
2/ Curated list

- Find a pain in a particular niche
- Curate a HUGE list of resources that solves that pain
- Put everything in an @airtable
- Sort & tag everything
- Sell it on @Gumroad
🤩 Inspiration:

- Scrapbook by @kacperstaniul: gumroad.com/a/145626227/dF…

- GetTims by @quentinvllrd

- The list of 400+ places I created: gum.co/iIZdb
3/ Job Board

- Pick a small niche of people
- Create a job board with a no-code tool
- Curate (or scrap) a bunch of job offer in that niche daily
- Post them on your job board
- Get some traffic some existing community or social media
- Sell upgraded job posting
🤩Inspiration:

- The most successful one is probably remoteok.io by @levelsio

- I created my own job board: @Remotefr
(not getting any revenues from it for now but AMA about it!)
4/ Notion Dashboard

- Same as an ebook or course but in a more interactive way!
- Pick a topic you know well
- Break it down into pieces
- Create some comprehensive & actionable content in Notion to educate your customers
- Sell it on @Gumroad
🤩Inspiration:

- @optemized: He's the notion maestro → optemization.com

- @JanelSGM: She's one of the most successful makers in the Notion Dashboard game → newsletteros.com

- @meisuleen: A dashboard to build your MVP with no-code gumroad.com/l/BzXzx
5/ Marketing Agency

- Choose a marketing skill you already have (or want to learn): SEO, FB ads, email marketing

- Help friends or network connection for free

- Ask for testimonials, create a landing page with Carrd

- Cold email to get clients

- Automate everything
🤩 Inspiration:

- @PaikCapital: He's the guy you want to follow to learn how to build an agency

- @Deveshd3: He built a $20k+ MRR agency in a few months
There are a LOT more opportunities than these 5.

It's never been easier. You can start a business and start making money with less than $100 investment!

Give it a try and maybe you won't need to go to your 9-5 anymore!

(It's what happened to @KennethCassel!)

A Thread 🧵👇
1/ You need a good piece of content.

- Create a blog post about lessons you learned, how you grow/sold/failed.

- A length of 600 words is enough.

- Don't put links in the content

- Have a single CTA at the end of the post - A link to your Twitter or product
2/ The best subreddits to post to as an #indiehackers :

- /r/Entrepreneur is a super popular one, which can bring 1000+ visits.

Today's #MyTwitterAnniversary

I joined Twitter 13 yrs ago because I wanted to build a (french) audience about Second life (!)

It worked, I've been one of the few 🇫🇷consultant that made a living from it!

And then, I stopped sharing stuff...
I switched to web development, and joined several companies. My need to be known wasn't a priority anymore.

But that was a BIG mistake. My twitter account just died silently 😑

Please, don't so that. Your boss won't help you find your next job!
Last September I decided to go full indie and I restarted twitter "from scratch", with 1300 "zombies" followers 😁

And it worked! I grew this account from 1300 to 2700 in a few months and made tons of new friends!

How to grow your Twitter audience,

A thread about what worked for me 👇
👉 Choose a topic

Choose a specific topic and stick to it.

People visiting your profile need to understand what are you talking about.

Of course you can make some exceptions but 90% of your content need to be about this topic, that's how you will get engagement
👉 Follow the influencers

Look for influencers in your niche. By influencers I mean someone who has several thousand followers and who's regularly quote by others about it.

Follow them and start interacting with them. Add as much value as you can in their comments.
