The past 7 months have been pretty crazy

New projects coming soon, but first, some story time:πŸ‘€

🧡 Back in 11/2022, the best I could do was some data science in Python & even though I was familiar with programming, I had never built an app before ..

#buildinpublic Image
& I did not know anything about all the different frameworks out there.

I always wanted to build a startup but very often, it seemed like something beyond my reach. I would often question myself: I was a technical guy, but not enough to build a software startup on my own πŸ€”
I had a basic understanding of business but I didn't quite fit the mold of a charismatic CEO.

As a result, I often felt torn between these two worlds, not really belonging to any of them.

Shamelessly stealing an idea from @jacksonfall and prompting GPT-4 to help me build a profitable business.

I'm going to start with the same prompt and do whatever it asks me to.

Let's goooooooo

Alright so the approach here is to find a product or service with high demand and low supply using a website like @junglescout or @GoogleTrends

On Google trends, the term "chat GPT" is exploding in popularity so I asked HustleGPT to suggest products related to that.

#gpt4 Image
@junglescout @GoogleTrends Top ideas generated by the bot πŸ€–

- AI-related books
- Ergonomic keyboards
- High-quality microphones
- Webcams

It also suggested digital products and I liked that more so I asked it to elaborate.

The answer? Chat bot scripts. That sounds easy enough πŸ˜… Image

Really proud of what we have built @sectionio over the past few months. An unparalleled distributed computing platform that you can take for a joy ride with industry-standard tooling. Low Bar, High Ceiling is the ethos of our platform. #docker #Kubernetes. Some things I love🧡
Get started with any #container, public or private in less than a minute. I am running my latest side project (taptab.manibatra.xyz) on Section. All hooked up to a #github action. All my containers running in different corners of the world are seamlessly updated in seconds!
Our new Console provides all the requisite tools so that you don't have to deal with the hassle of operating your workload. Just the name of the image is all you need. Focus on building & getting that product market fit #buildinpublic

1/ How To Find Focus As A Solo Founder

#startups #founders #coders #indiehackers

Imagine being able to sit down and focus on your most important tasks that translate your time into direct measurable success

Here’s how:
2/ Being a Solo Founder who has trouble focusing means that you get less done than you want which in turn makes your business less successful than you'd like.
3/ Imagine being able to sit down and focus on your most important tasks that translate your time into direct measurable success. You would work through your to-do list steadily and effectively without worrying you are working on the wrong thing.

1/ How To Schedule Your Time As A Technical Solo Founder

#startups #founders #coders #indiehackers

Here’s how: Image
2/ As a technical solo founder, getting the right things done in the right amount of time means your company survives instead of crashes.
3/ You want to have a good system in place to do this so that you can get your product out of the door, set up a sales system that works for your product, and a way to generate demand without making you overwhelmed and anxious.

Today I'm sharing 8 tips that will save you time and money.

This is for all #IndieHackers

1/ Finding a SaaS Idea in 5 minutes

Is there like a linkinbio, but for indie makers and website footers?

- A simple makers 'hover card'

- Quick generator to build your own snippet
- Turn one link into a mini profile that shows on hover
- For when one maker link just ain't kickin it…

4 min mockup below! :)
Im guessing there is definitely something like this? I just couldn't find one.

πŸ”₯How I started multiple profitable businesses with less than $50

A list of 30 resources I used to build all my products so you can do the same!

THREADπŸ‘‡
1/ Landing page

- All my landing pages are made with @carrd. It's super easy to use and the default designs are WAY better than everything I can do myself!

Their PRO plan is ridiculously cheap $19/YEAR!

Bonus point: It's made by an IndieHacker β†’ @ajlkn
2/ Database

- For all data storage I use @airtable.

The free plan is enough for most use cases. It comes with Unlimited bases and 1,200 records per base, more than enough to test a product.

No more SQL, just a nice UI (#nocode 😍)

Bonus: Their API is super handy!

The way to get new followers or organic traffic from Reddit

A Thread πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡
1/ You need a good piece of content.

- Create a blog post about lessons you learned, how you grow/sold/failed.

- A length of 600 words is enough.

- Don't put links in the content

- Have a single CTA at the end of the post - A link to your Twitter or product
2/ The best subreddits to post to as an #indiehackers :

- /r/Entrepreneur is a super popular one, which can bring 1000+ visits.

⚠️ It requires 10 karma points to comment. Just spend some time in the "New" section and help people. You should receive these 10 pts quickly

Just listened to the @IndieHackers podcast. @csallen spoke with @dvassallo. This quote struck me: "As soon as something inspires me... I tend to do it almost immediately, at least I’ll start." So I'm going to live-validate an idea right now. Join in with ideas/input. Thread πŸ‘‡
My hypothesis: Users of SaaS apps often need to upload data from flat files (csv, excel). Designing and coding this feature is really annoying - multiple file-formats, complex error handling, unclear UX - and a source of support.
My initial product idea is a service that handles file parsing, customizable validation, generates a template for users to fill out, and provides a UI with error-correcting feedback. Probably in the form of an API + SDK.

Today I'm not sharing great life lessons and business tips.

Today I'm sharing ten practical tips that will help you save time and money on your #IndieHackers journey.

Too many times I hear: "I don't know what to build" πŸ€”

1: Go on Capterra.com / g2.com
2: Search for the most successful SAAS out there

You now have a business idea

πŸ‘‡ Examples

🚨 50 Actionable #SEO tips [THREAD]

Learn how to grow your organic traffic πŸ“ˆ

For the past 50 days, I have been posting daily SEO tips. I am now combining them all into one thread πŸ‘‡
πŸ’‘SEO Tip of the Day - #1

If you're writing content about sinks - don't hire "freelance writer" - hire a plumber, he will have a LOT better knowledge and content to provide. Then have an editor to "fix" the writing style and you are ahead of 90% of your competition.
πŸ’‘SEO Tip of the Day - #2

"learn by doing" has been the best approach when it comes to SEO.

I have been working on coronavirus tracker, even though it doesn't generate any actual revenue, gives me satisfaction that I'm doing my small bit.
Also all the pro features in Visa List are free to use for a month keeping #COVID19 in mind.

I see the trand to continue for atleast this quarter. Probably things might look good for the next quarter.

More than the revenue dip, personally I miss my travels.

Been working on a new SaaS product, and managed to pull in a little bit more than 500 people for a waitlist so far.

I felt pretty pumped about that and felt like it validated my idea... but the more I thought about it, waitlist users is not a huge validation.
In order to validate, I need people to pull out their card and pay me money. So I put together a little offer for $1 that basically puts them at the front of the waitlist and gives them a $10 credit in the future when we launch (launch date still TBA).
I was pretty nervous sending out the email because if people won't even give me a dollar... I'm in pretty bad shape. My idea I've been working on the past few months will be a failure. But I mustered up the courage and sent out the email...

"Nothing is as real as belonging to an in-person community who shares your niche interests, lifestyles, or beliefs"

It used to be rare that I'd meet someone in real life who I'd first met online. Nowadays it's an almost weekly occurrence for me.

forbes.com/sites/kylewong…
There are roughly 60 #indiehackers meetups/month, and there will eventually be hundreds.

I can go to practically any city in the world and make friends with total strangers who share my interests and are excited to talk about their startups for hours.
For example, I recently met @terijyu, an indie hacker working on @vibelywithme. She's trying to create a world where these kinds of casual online-to-offline meetups are even more commonplace.

(2/18) Since I have multiple products and intend to have even more, I won’t focus on everything

I will focus on one north star/metric for each one, following @asmartbear's advice

Below is my north star metric for each product 🌟
(3/18) For @gitgardener, my north star metric is website visitors, I get only about 300 visitors per month but they still convert great

I also doubled prices last month, not only did I stopped getting new customers, I actually got more than before at twice the price! πŸ€‘
