A Little tale from #Mahabharata.

Arjuna elopes with Subadhra in elder-brother Krishnas Ratha. Pitamaha Bheeshma is very angry with Arjuna as this was against the Tradition. Subhadra’s other brother Balrama had already promised Subhadra’s marriage to Duryodhana.
Krishna tried to convince Bhishma about how Arjuna was the right man for Subhadra and his action was right too, but Bhishma was adamant. The conversation that then happened between Krishna and Bhishma is as follows:
Bhishma: "I am not happy with this marriage because this is against the tradition. A person can trust another person only when traditions are followed and respected.

Without following traditions, trust cannot be established".
Krishna: (Giggles) "Traditions…! Traditions are like mango fruit. In the beginning, it tastes bitter. Some days later it becomes sour. People, who like sour taste, eat that fruit with great pleasure. After some days, mango becomes sweet and thus becomes everybody’s favourite...
But, after some more days, it gets rotten. It starts smelling bad. People fall ill who still eat that rotten mango. And as time passes on, that fruit remains of no use. Not even its pit".
"I don’t have any problem with traditions as such, but when the same traditions become a reason for one’s exploitation, cause more harm than good & become a hurdle in the change for the better, then such rotten traditions should be destroyed & new traditions should take a birth"
Bhishma: "Who decides which traditions are rotten? You, Lord Krishna?"

Krishna: "No! Time will decide it! And no one can disobey time’s order. This is the period of solstice for the entire Aryavarta."
"The way the Sun changes its path in solstice; the whole Aryavarta too is going to change its path. Old traditions will break, old dynasties will get destroyed. New dharma will be established and a new era will begin."
"And a time will come when you will have to decide on which side you want to be on. Because everyone will be caught in this trap of time. People who promote lies will become the cause of this transformation and people who walk on path of truth will establish the new era".
And this is decided !!!

So, spoke, Shri Krishna Parmatma. A Divine announcement of the war of #Mahabharata.

Battle of Pawankhind. A war that changed the course of history.

Possibly my longest thread. Please read through till the END.
Request the Reader to picture himself/herself in Ghodkind (which became Pawankhind later).

To the West of Ghodkind is VISHALGAD. It could be 7 km from the valley and 14 kms by Road.

4 kms to the East of it is Ghodmaal. Ghodmaal is a place where "Horse Market" was there.
Horses bought at Ghodmaal were taken by the Valley route to VISHALGAD. Hence, the Valley-route was called Ghodkind. VISHALGAD was the place where these horses were registered officially and inducted into the Maratha Army.

Reproducing a Story (Verbatim), I read from the link mentioned above.

Title : Story of Nachiketa & Yama – The Soul & Brahman
Nachiketa was the son of the sage Vājashravas. He was performing a sacrifice named Viswajet Yajna. In this Yajna, the performer had to give away all his wealth. In ancient times, Cows were designated as valuable.
Cows were also special possessions & hence Vajashrava, desiring a gift from the gods, decided to donate all his cows to Brahmins. Nachiketa was in his teens, and he was observing the sacrificial ritual with innocent interest.

While this is not a STORY. This is my attempt at stitching together a thread on #BhagwadGita for everyone to read.

Today, lets learn about the Premise.
The Gita is a dialogue between the warrior-prince ARJUNA and the Bhagwaan KRISHNA who is serving as his charioteer at the Battle of Kurukshetra fought between Arjuna's family & allies (the Pandavas) and those of the prince DURYODHANA & his family (the Kauravas) and their allies.
This dialogue is recited by the Kauravan counselor Sanjaya to his blind king Dhritarashtra (both far from the battleground) as Krishna has given Sanjaya mystical sight so he will be able to see and report the battle to the king.

For 10 years Raama, Lakshmana and Sita lived quietly amongst the rishis in the Dandakaranya (Dandaka Forest). In Dandakaranya there were many Aashramas, knowing the Trio, all RISHIS welcomed Raama, Lakshmana, Sita. They would stay in one Ashrama after another.
After the passage of 10 years, Raama wished to have Darshan of AGASTYA RISHI.

Words fall short, in praise of AGASTYA RISHI. He was famous in Three Worlds.
It was said that if all the combined wisdom & spiritual Merit between the Himalayas and the Vindhyas was put on one Scale while AGASTYA RISHI (of the South) was made to sit on the other side.

The AGASTYA RISHI side of the Scale will come down by his Weight of Wisdom.

Story Time.

Once, there was a group of 10 friends. They were all travelling. Their Journey meant, they had to cross a river. One of them made boat arrangements & they crossed the river. After a slightly turbulent boat ride, one of them suggested, let's count if everybody is thr.
He started counting. One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine.

Oh My God, we lost one of our mates. There are only Nine of us here.

Surprised, another one does the counting. Even he concluded. There are only nine of us here.
Like this, each one does the same act. Now the group is sad, they have lost a mate in the boat ride.

To the reader, we know - each of the men committed the same mistake. They didn't count Themselves.

Once in Kashi, there was a theatrical performance arranged. The Queen & the entire kingdom participated.

A Character in the Play was to be a Princess (little girl). They had a Casting issue, Queen had a Son (not a daughter).
Queen suggested let's dress him up as a princess. The people around did a fantastic job in dressing up the Prince as a Princess. He looked so pretty that the royal Painter painted a Portrait.

That Portrait was framed, with the proper date and caption "Princess of Kashi".
The Play turned out to be very good.

Years passed. Prince grew in age. He was doing all the macho-Prince like activities (Horse riding, archery, learning combat, learning all the Royal skills of Politics & economics)
