There’s a Senate Judiciary hearing today to discuss gun violence. One would think it’s just good timing that they happened to have a hearing scheduled about gun violence as we have had 2 mass shootings in the last week. It’s not a coincidence. These shootings occur too often.👇🏻
And they are paid for. These shootings have become a business. Each time one occurs, the NRA tries to cash in. It used to be they would offer some hollow thoughts and prayers to go along with their hollow points, but now they fund raise. And now, so do elected officials.
You may remember Lauren Boebert from such gun discussions as her first trip to the well of the House floor where she ‘joked’ she wasn’t going to challenge anyone to a duel and then proceeded to incite insurrection.
Or you might recall Boebert from when she stood against background checks for gun purchases in this speech where she lied about the death of a patron of her restaurant. By the way, the name of the restaurant is ‘Shooters.’
Or from when she asked Beto O’Rourke a question while he was campaigning. She told him ‘Hell No’ you won’t take my guns. She reminded the crowd that Beto had a ‘criminal’ record.
Which is kind of a weird flex considering...
In a way, this question to Beto launched Boebert into politics. Also while she had the mic at that Beto rally, she let the crowd know she didn’t have her AR15 with her but that she did have her glock.
Sorry, that’s 👆🏻Russian [REDACTED] Maria Butina showing the crowd at a pro gun rally that due to her lifetime membership in the NRA, she can have a concealed carry permit. My apologies for the confusion. For more on this, read here👇🏻
But now that Boebert is an elected official she has great power and with great power comes great responsibility. 🤣🤣 just kidding, she needs money and she needs to look like she cares. So she tweeted this. Remember she represents Colorado and is from a place called Rifle.
Remember earlier when I said these shootings are a means to raise funds?
She sent this looking to raise funds...
Boebert is one of three candidates to receive campaign contributions from a PAC called American Victory PAC. Where did this money come from? Well it looks like $5k came from National Shooting Sports Foundation. Sounds kind of gun-y.
Well...the National Shooting Sports Foundation is headquartered in...and you’re not going to believe it...seriously....Newtown CT! And god damnit, I’m not even going to post a link to the Sandy Hook story because it is still too painful and I’m still too pissed from last night.
We have politicians in office whose sole purpose is to protect guns. They gaslight and tell us the guns protect us. So which is it? We have put millions of funding into strengthening the police. We outfit them to invade small nations. We need to invest in prevention.
We will never be rid of this scourge as long as there are politicians paid to protect the guns. Who will protect us from them?

Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee holds a hearing on Gun violence. With the smell of gun powder still wafting in the air over spas in Atlanta and the produce section of a grocery store, watch the hearing to see which senators protect people and which protect the guns.🧵👇🏻
Chairman Dick Durbin (D-IL) gavels us in.

Announced last week, judiciary would have a hearing on gun violence, that same day a string of shootings occurred in Atlanta. 8 dead. Last night preparing, another shooting in Boulder. 10 dead. Including an officer.
We have a pandemic called coronavirus, another epidemic called ‘guns’. 29 mass shootings occurred this month. Moments of silence need moments of action. Real caring. We are senate leaders, what are we doing other than reflecting and praying?

On March 11, 2021, the House of Representatives sent House Resolution 1 to the Senate. You may have heard of it as HR1 but do you really know what is in the Bill? Let’s take a deep dive into it and see shall we...🧵👇🏻
TLDR: #HR1FixesThat

congress.gov/bill/117th-con…
You’ve heard HR1 described as ‘absolutely devastating to Republicans.’ Why? It is because all the tricks used to win elections by voter suppression, dark money, disinformation and foreign influence are all exposed.
This is HR1: An Act to expand Americans’ access to the ballot box, reduce the influence of big money in politics, strengthen ethics rules for public servants, and implement other anti-corruption measures for the purpose of fortifying our democracy, and for other purposes.

There is so much to unpack in this ODNI intelligence community report into 2020 election interference and specifically an effort to smear Biden regarding Ukraine. Let’s take a look... 🧵👇🏻

dni.gov/files/ODNI/doc…
Firstly, the findings of the IC are specific about the fact that no actor was able to change any votes from a technical perspective.
Simply put, the kraken is dead, Rudy better look under the pillows for $1.3b and a really, really good lawyer.
Secondly, Putin was behind this using proxy’s to spread disinformation about Biden in an effort to help his trump get re-elected. Unlike last time (you know, the hoax 😉) Russia didn’t try to access the election systems. They just used people. Which people?(📌1)

Frustrated we haven’t been provided with a mugshot from the inner circle yet? Angry about seemingly no consequences for the last 4 years? There are signs things are in fact moving. That justice is coming. This is one of those little threads of hope to outline what’s up.🧵👇🏻
Firstly, Mitch McConnell ran as much time off the clock prior to confirming Merrick Garland as Attorney General. But now AG Garland is in his seat, and time has run out.

Let’s start in the Senate...

Trigger Warning: Sex Abuse

I’ve never shared this story with anyone but my wife...
tldr: I’m lucky. 🧵👇🏻
When I was young, in an effort to create a relationship with his grandson, my grandfather decided I would go to church on Sundays. My parents agreed. I did not. I was maybe 6 or 7 years old.
Every Sunday, I had to get up early, wear uncomfortable clothes, get picked up by a man I did not really know and spend an hour being quiet.

I reviewed the @RepZoeLofgren document that outlines the 14th Amendment and shows 121 Members of Congress who shared social media posts about the election in the lead up to the Insurrection. The below is a deeper look by the numbers.
I have been following our government since trump descended the escalator and mentioned ‘rapists’ in his presidential candidacy launch speech. After watching hearings and reading transcripts for years, one begins to recognize certain issues and message pushing narratives.
One may get to a point where their unconscious bias may take over and I didn’t want to reach that point when I reviewed this @RepZoeLofgren 14th Amendment Document. I was sure I could name those who were on it and those I think need to be expelled, but I wanted to remove my bias.
