I have gun stories.

The 1st was when my granddad blew his head off with a gun

I was in lockdown during the Van Nuys shootout

The North Valley Jewish Center was my kid's preschool

I've had guns pulled on me 3x's by strangers and one of my clients aimed a shotgun at my chest

The same day as Parkland, a kid was arrested at my children's school for planning a school shooting

My last day at work in Lynchburg, I witnessed a shootout on the tarmac at my station

As a medic, I've witnessed multiple gunshot victims, suicides & attempted suicides

A member of the Lynchburg Fire Dept brought a gun to work and while fiddling with it, shot himself in the hand & almost killed another firefighter

My son's mother-in-law shot and murdered her husband during a mental and drug fueled episode

I grew up in Thousand Oaks and frequented the bar where the Thousand Oaks shooting occurred

I witnessed a shootout with my kids when someone yelled at a driver to "slow down."

I pulled into a parking lot in Santa Monica at the same time there was a shootout with police

I've had two guns aimed at me while driving

One of my best friends growing up committed suicide with a gun. It was the same day he was supposed to be going into the Navy

One of my childhood friends was shot in the neck by his brother who thought the gun wasn't loaded

One of my friends was shot in the leg by an unknown assailant while he was sitting in a tree

My niece was in Vegas when the Vegas shooting occurred and we were frantically calling her to make sure she was okay

Someone shot my friend's horses from the road and killed them

When I worked at the Rape Crisis Center many of the victims were held at gunpoint

My good friend was kidnapped and raped by a man with a gun

I consider myself to be a pretty average person, and yet, I've experienced a lot of gun shit. All of it bad.

After Parkland & the arrest at my kid's school, @TomCottonAR said he'd work on providing mental health services & closing the gun loopholes

Instead he worked on taking away our healthcare during a pandemic & supports "stand your ground laws" all while taking money from the NRA

I also want to point out that my sister-in-law's sister is schizophrenic. She went off her meds & shot and murdered her 3 year old child because "Satan told me to"

Her husband is an Evangelical Trumper who thought by keeping one, he was the good guy with a gun.

I believe the one event that most defines who we've become as Americans is Sandy Hook. Our morality ended there. We didn't protest or march. We allowed Alex Jones to happen. We went on w/our lives. Not pro life. Not even kind. We all became the shooter that day.

It's who we are.
