#Malaria:
Children aged under 5 years are the most vulnerable group affected by malaria; in 2019, they accounted for 67% (274 000) of all malaria deaths worldwide.
Africa carries a higher share of the global burden. In 2019, the region was home to 94% of malaria cases and deaths
The @WHO recommends protection for all people at risk of #malaria with effective malaria vector control. Two forms of vector control – insecticide-treated mosquito nets and indoor residual spraying – are effective in a wide range of circumstances.
For pregnant women living in moderate-to-high #malaria transmission areas, @WHO recommends at least 3 doses of intermittent preventive treatment with sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine at each antenatal visit after the 1st trimester. Same, for infants during routine vaccinations.
A reminder that #Malaria really shouldn't be claiming so many lives if we put in a little more effort to get rid of it.

We must call upon Africa to mount an effective response now and prepare for the future pandemics by developing internal capacity to develop, manufacture and distribute vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics within the continent in partnership with the rest of the world.
The project is premised on the principle that good health starts with, and is created by individuals, their families and the communities; and that individuals have the primary responsibility for maintaining their own health. achest.org/index.php?opti…
Village Health teams(VHTs) maintain registers with records of the health status of each individual in the households; and promote and record good health practices, hygiene and health conditions of household members.
