And now @MAXAR's worldview satellite has supplied high-resolution imaging from earlier this very day, showing that there is still a ship stuck in the Suez Canal. #OSINTatWork

I would just like to point out that we now have confirmation of a ship stuck in the Suez Canal using multiple space-based sensors.

We also have imagery at different resolutions... And different nadir angles at different times of day... (credit: @Maxar @Airbus @planetlabs and @capellaspace for that previous tweet)

This allows us to do some pretty neat #OSINT on the ship stuck in the panama canal. For example, we can compare images taken at different times to look for changes... this is known in the trade as tipping and cuing...

By comparing those very high-res images from @maxar and @Airbus its clear to see that there is a ship stuck in the panama canal.

Another important use of overhead imagery is to ground-truth images which claim to be from the scene of the action.

Sure enough, this image from @Airbus appears to corroborate this image from the Suez Canal Authority, showing a ship stuck in the Suez Canal.

In the case of ships, overhead imagery can also be combined with AIS information to verify the location of a vessel under investigation.

Sure enough... this wide view from @planetlabs and this data from @TankerTrackers shows there is a vessel stuck in the Suez Canal.

There is still more data to be gathered. I'd like to see confirmation of @capellaspace's SAR imagery form @iceyefi, for example.

And on the ground, organizations like @bellingcat could sweep social media for more images and videos.

But I guess what I'm trying to say are two things:

1. This truly is a golden age for #OSINT.

2. There appears to be a large container ship wedged in the Suez Canal.
