"Traditional Mi'kmaq (Micmac) Culture": heritage.nf.ca/articles/abori….
So no matter how much you try and say, my family is not Mi'kmaw Darryl, when they lived with the Tribe, signed treaties for the Mi'kmaw Nation, married within it, I totally beg to differ. My 8th Great Grandmother has had her name lost to history, that does not negate her presence
or me !! .. and it is pretty damn violent and disgusting of you to suggest it does. When so many native women have lost their identities due to colonization and having their names ripped from them and given their names instead. Or just recorded by their given first names.
The other Mi'kmaw wife of Phillipe Mius II, was also unknown. They only have her first name from a census. Marie Unknown, who is Francois Mius' mother who you never seemed to suggest the same thoughts on as you did, my grandmother. Step, Half's, those are colonial western
concepts, not traditional Mi'kmaw Culture. Which again, you know, and once again, you use incorrect facts to try and distort an issue. You can never face any issue face first and just deal in truths. Mi'kmaw lived in family units. There was no distinctions made.
Also when you say good try? I am not quite sure what you mean, but I think you mean I was trying to pass Joseph off as living on the Mi'kmaw side of the census, even though Joseph has been recorded as being Part-Indian, this census has him living in Cape Sable as being French,
because he married out French. Which I have been saying the whole damn time. How 3 brothers, Francois, Mathew and Joseph. All come from Philippe Mius II and Mi'kmaw women. 2 of them identify or are identified as Mi'kmaw, they also married Mi'kmaw wifes.
2 different identities, exact same family. The original definition of Metis, was an Indigenous person and French. Joseph has always been thought of as one of the progenitors of the Metis families in Nova Scotia. We have a different identity than MNC Metis. However, the MNC Metis
had a pretty close identification process as we do. You had to self-identify as Metis and you needed in most cases to be Aboriginal and European. Louis Riel - Until now it-the name Metis-has served to designate the race emerging from the mixed blood of the Europeans and the
Savages- from Sébastien Malette, Ph.D./ Devoid of Principle-The Federal Court determination that section 91(24) of the Constitution Act, 1867 is a race-based provision- JEAN TEILLET AND CARLY TEILLET - Louis Riel described his preference for the term Métis as follows:
Jean Teillet - Powley Vol 1 Doc- no matter if their identification changes over generations or even within a lifetime they are still aboriginal people.
I said in most cases you needed to self-identify and be Aboriginal and European, but not in all cases. Non-Native women and their children who lived common-law with Metis men, were also full Metis on Metis settlements. If you were to trace back these women's genealogy it wouldn't We are Metis - the ethnography of a halfbreed community in n
show the connection./ The History of the Manitoba Metis Federation-Tony Lussier writing in 1978 states- Today a Metis is defined by the MMF as: A person of mixed blood, Indian and European no matter what amount ; One who considers himself as a Metis ; An Enfranchised Indian ;
One who recieved land scrip during the 1870's, half-breed scrip was contingent on any person who could prove they had white blood ; One who is identified with a group that identifies as Metis, A native but not a registered Indian ; A Non-Native married to a Metis man.
"Documents and articles about Metis people-1972- Saskatoon, Saskatchewan - Basis for some of the information used in the book The non-people, by Dave McKay- Membership criteria - "wives and children of those of Metis Extraction."

DOCUMENT NAME/INFORMANT: ALLAN QUANDT 1 - Interviewer Murray Dobbin
"Page-126." "A-Social-History-of-the-Manitoba-Métis.1974." Published by the Manitoba Metis Federation Press - today their descendants have assimilated to the extent that few actually know of their Metis origins.
The New peoples - being and becoming Metis in North America- 1985- Winnipeg -University of Manitoba Press - Brown, Jennifer S. H., 1940-; Peterson, Jacqueline Louise - Mius d'Entremonts, St Castin etc
Province of Manitoba - Oct 29 1956 - Lagasse named to do social study.
Once again, do not misconstrue what I have shown here. These are not my words. I am just showing what you are are being force fed today by a contemporary Metis people, who are NOT, who the historical Metis were. #Metis
LAC - Use of the term half-breed is what you will find in the historical records- Using the term "Metis" is at the preference of Metis National Counsil.
RCAP 432 - Metis Circle Special Consultation - Ottawa - Chartier saying that members of the Metis Nation to not aspire to any other Nation, they want to be the Metis Nation, we don't know any other reality. -- really, history does not show that to be correct.
The People Who Own Themselves - Recognition of Metis Identity in Canada - Senate - YC28-0-411-12 - David Chartrand - families will eventually reclaim their Metis identity , as generations lose their status under the Indian Act over time.
MNC 2002 definition - adopted by Metis National Council - has absolutely nothing to do with those historical Metis people. "Those of Historic Metis Nation Ancestry" - was anyone who was Aboriginal and European, or living or married to one. As Malcolm Norris defined a Metis or a
half-breed, anyone with a drop of Indian blood who was not assimilated and everyone historically has been, according to Malcolm Norris in the 50's and the MMF in the 70's.

"Does Race Exist? | Duke University Science & Society": scienceandsociety.duke.edu/does-race-exis… "In a landmark paper based on the Human Genome Project, scientists showed that there are no “races” but a single human race ..."
"But the implications were clear; this research blurred the lines between different “races”. It proved that the traditional idea of there being several discrete races populating the earth is simply false; we are all members of the human race"
"when it comes to race, I do believe that public understanding of science may be the way to restructuring society." -- so we wonder, does this "academic" understand science or is he using his unscientific race based "raceshifting" theory in a way that does not benefit society? I

"An anthropologist who proposed using race as a serious way of describing human variability would be laughed out of the profession—not for reasons of political correctness, but because the idea displays a manifest ignorance of biology."

"raceshifting" = not a scientifically valid concept. As in there is no such thing. Identities are fluid, not static and therefore "shift" and change is a normal pattern.

Weird though he says Harry Daniels was there, he never showed Harry's thoughts on Metis citizenship?
RCAP 432 - Metis Circle Special Consultation - Ottawa - Harry Daniels was very specific in saying that Metie was meant for the purposes of 35 - Clearly meant and clearly stated to the Parliamentary Committee of the day. -Harry clearly stated to the federal officials to include
both halfbreed scrip takers and their descendants, conventionally called Red River Metis, and other persons of mixed blood ancestry who identify with Metis culture and history, which is localized and regionalized to adapt to the local history and culture of the region.
