We fully support the statements of @FAO and @SwissAmbUN_MIRO noting that assessments of the sustainability of agriculture must be #participatory and #inclusive. Both are basic notions which should be upheld as part of a human rights approach to food systems and nutrition.

Food systems need to be radically transformed through #agroecology, not merely enhanced. Argentina and Brazil's systematic rejection of the terms 'transition' or 'transformation' in the text is alarming!

The @hlpe_cfs says it very clearly: we need to STOP subsidising negative externalities.

Circular and solidarity economies are a key element of #agroecology and have proved to be more resilient during the #COVID19 pandemic. States can't just remove reference to them in favor of "sustained economic growth"!

Despite Biden's bold agenda for gender equality, the US representative is attempting to eliminate reference to the #CEDAW Convention, which is the most important legally binding norm to achieving equality and security regarding women's rights. @POTUS, where is your bold agenda?

The US representative is pushing for a non-transformative vision of #agroecology that places productivity first & does nothing to solve the unjust social, economic & political relations on which the dominant food system is based.

The US & EU assert that peasants rights & knowledge should be deleted from these policy rec. #Peasantrights are human rights & #UNDROP is fundamental for CSM constituencies. It's 🔑 for agroecological & other innovative approaches. If they want us on board, it has to be included!

Unbelievable that today - in 2021 - we must again fight for the basic inclusion of women's rights at the @UN_CFS.

The @UN_CFS must recognize the rights of peasants and other people working in rural areas, and their protection against agrotoxics. This is fundamental.

While discussing recommendations on supporting research on #agroecology, the US, Argentina, Brazil and Chile threaten to upend the entire negotiation process over the suggestion that this “might include” promoting research on “ecological footprints”.

UN Special Rapporteur on the #RightToFood @MichaelFakhri in response to states not recognizing #UNDROP: "you cannot pick & choose" with HRs. Caveats like“as far as they have been agreed, acknowledged or endorsed by respective Member States” have no place. #agroecologynegotiations
