@Hadithoftheday Sayyidna Uthman R.A
The well is known today as Bi’ir Uthman or Bi’ir Rummah.
In Madinah, water was scarce & control of the wells was tightly held by several men.
As Uthman R.A was a skilful trader & negotiator, he set about trying to procure a well for the use of the Muslims
@Hadithoftheday Birr-e-Uthman (Well of Uthman R.A) is one of historic monument of Madinah.
Birr-e-Uthman is the water well that Uthman R.A endowed to the residents of Madinah during drought.
Uthman R.A is admired for his generosity
Uthman R.A was rich & used his wealth to support Islam & Muslims
@Hadithoftheday After the migration of Muslims to Madinah, A Jewish trader had taken advantage of the need for the city dwellers' survival when he sold water (a precious commodity indeed) at a very high price.
@Hadithoftheday Most of the wells had dried up due to a drought but this particular well was still full. Since this was the only source of water, the Jewish owner charged the Muslims exorbitant amounts for water.
This made life very difficult for the people as the water was very expensive.
@Hadithoftheday The prophet ﷺ saw the people suffering and wanted to alleviate this problem. He asked the Jewish owner to sell it in exchange for a spring in Jannah, to which the Jewish owner refused.
@Hadithoftheday Uthman R.A caught ear of this offer and immediately went to the prophet ﷺ and asked whether if he bought it, will the offer of Jannah be extended to him instead. The prophet ﷺ affirmed him with a yes.
@Hadithoftheday Uthman R.A immediately went to the Jewish owner and offered to buy the well outright from him. Since the Jewish owner was making huge profits, he rejected the offer without hesitation. Uthman R.A refused to give up and quickly offered to buy half of the well instead.
@Hadithoftheday The Jewish owner contemplated over the offer and thought to himself that there is no harm in it as he will still be making profit from the people and will receive a huge cash amount from Uthman R.A as well.
@Hadithoftheday Thus Uthman R.A took the initiative to relieve Muslims of such high expenses. He offered to buy the well at Rawmah from the Jew but was only allowed to purchase half of it.
@Hadithoftheday He accepted the offer and the agreement was that they will each get to use the well every second day (One day for the Jewish owner and one day for Uthman R.A) and on the day of their turn, they could chose how to utilize the well however they see fit.
@Hadithoftheday Uthman R.A announced that on his day, everyone could use and draw as much water as they needed free of charge. Hence, all the people utilized the well on Uthman's R.A day and drew enough water for that day plus the next day when it was the Jews turn.
@Hadithoftheday Thus Uthman R.A then announced the everyone to purchase enough water for two days each time it was his turn to sell water, thereby avoiding purchase of water on the second day when it was the Jew's turn to use the well.
@Hadithoftheday The Jew was then unable to get any buyers and eventually had to sell his share to Uthman R.A. The well then overflowed with its sweet water and provided the people of Medina with water at no price or account.
@Hadithoftheday Uthman R.A continued to allow the water to be used freely by all and never reminded the people of his charity.
He was humble and modest.
Uthman gave freely from his wealth to please Allah and His messenger Muhammad ﷺ.
@Hadithoftheday The well was kept for the free use of Muslims, up to and after the death of Uthman R.A.
During the Ummayyad dynasty, the well and the surrounding ground (still in the name of Uthman R.A since it was charitable and not inherited) were kept for free use by Muslims.
@Hadithoftheday Date palms grew on the grounds and grew numerous overtime. The dates were also harvested and given to charity in the name of Uthman bin Affan R.A.
In the present history of Saudi Arabia, the decision was made to organise it into a modern plantation.
@Hadithoftheday The money was shared into two parts, half to be given in charity, mainly to widows and orphans, the other half to be reinvested.
@Hadithoftheday A bank account exists in the name of Uthman bin Affan R.A, from which half of all money gained from the plantation are remitted, while the other half is still being given out as charity.
May Allah reward the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ.
Aamen

@Hadithoftheday Sayyidah Fatimah R.A.
All the children of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ apart from Fatimah R.A died during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Fatimah R.A died after approx ± 90 days after the death of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Fatimah R.A was the youngest daughter of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
@Hadithoftheday Fatimah R.A was described as the "Leader of the women in Jannah". (Bukhari).
The Prophet ﷺ was reported to have said that, “The best women in the entire world are four: Maryam, Asiya - the wife of Pharaoh, Khadijah - and Fatimah R.A.
@Hadithoftheday Before the passing away of Prophet ﷺ , He ﷺ informed Fatimah R.A that she will be the first of his family to join him.” So she wept. Then he said, “Would it not please Fatima R.A to be the leader of the women of Paradise or the women of the believers?” So she smiled.’
(Bukhari)
@Hadithoftheday The Ant.
Allah says in Qur'an:
Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, “O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Sulaiman and his soldiers while they perceive not.” (Al Qur’an 27:18)
@Hadithoftheday One day, Sulaiman A.S gathered his troops of jinn, humans and birds. They marched in strict discipline towards the direction of the valley of ants. If they were to trample on the ant’s nest, it spelt doom for the entire ant community residing there.+
@Hadithoftheday The ant heard the approach of the army. She was aware that ants, being one of the smallest insects and often most overlooked by people, were barely noticeable.
She knew that Sulaiman A.S and his troops were likely to crush them. +
The only chapter named after a female or lady in the Quran is Maryam A.S
A chapter named after her is called Surah Maryam (Chapter 19,verses 98). Maryam A.S is also mentioned in the Holy Quran directly by her name 32 times.
@Hadithoftheday Maryam A. S has an entire chapter in the Qur’an named for her — the only chapter in the Qur’an named for a female figure.
The best of women among the people of Paradise are 4 : Khadija , Fatimah bint Muhammad, "Maryam bint ‘Imran", and ‘Asiyah ,the wife of Pharaoh.” -(Hadith)
@Hadithoftheday Surah Nisa is also another chapter of Quran which is named as "The Women". It is fourth chapter of Qur'an and comprises of 176 verses.
"Nisa” in Arabic is “Women.” This Surah is named so because it mainly discusses issues and laws regarding women.
@Hadithoftheday People/Disciples of Isa A.S (Jesus)
Allah says in Qur'an:
When the disciples said: O Jesus, son of Mary! Is your Lord able to send down for us a table spread with food from heaven? He said: Observe your duty to God, if ye are true believers. (Qur'an- 5:112)
@Hadithoftheday Fifth chapter of the Quran "Al-Maidah -The Table Laden with Food" is named after the miracle of Isa A.S
Allah narrates how the disciples of Isa A.S requested him to ask Allah to send down a table laden with food,& for it to be a special day of commemoration for them in the future
"[And remember] when the disciples said, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, can your Lord send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven? [Jesus] said," Fear Allah, if you should be believers.""
(Qur'an: Al-Maaida 5: Verse 112)
@Hadithoftheday After Hijrah.
The command to shift the direction of salah to the Kabah was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ about 16-17 months after his immigration to Madinah.
@Hadithoftheday The first Qiblah that Muslims faced in their prayers was Al-Aqsa Masjid in Jerusalem.
In Makkah before the immigration to Madinah, Muslims were commanded to face Jerusalem in their prayer. This was the first Qibla that Muslims faced during the salah.
@Hadithoftheday After immigrating to Madinah, the Muslims continued to face Jerusalem for more 16 or 17 months. The Jews of Madinah rejoiced the fact that the Prophet had to take their sacred city as a Qibla. They used this to spread doubts about the validity of Islam. +
@Hadithoftheday Uncle (Paternal Uncle)
Abu Lahab was son of Abdul Mutalib
Abu Lahab was born in Makkah
His original name was Abdul Uzza
He was nicknamed Abu Lahab on account of his reddish complexion.
Abu Lahab is the only person from the enemies of Islam who has been cursed by name in the Quran
@Hadithoftheday Abu Lahab was one of staunch enemies of Prophet ﷺ & uncle of Prophet ﷺ. He & his wife Umm jamil did everything they could do to prosecute the Prophet ﷺ
Allah says in Qur'an:
"May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, & ruined is he.(111:1)
@Hadithoftheday Allah says in Qur'an:
"His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained."
"He will enter to burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame"
"And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood."
"Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber."
(Qur'an. Surah Al-Masad 111: Verse 2-5)
