@NAkufoAddo Mr. President. A belated happy 77th birthday wish to you Sir. I am not Ghanaian, but though of Arab descent, is African, Kenyan to be precise. I have a severe allergy for rhetoric, & political maleficence.
When you talk sustainable development, what exactly do you mean? Thread-
@NAkufoAddo I have heard of the UN MDG's their sustainable development condiments & now the @AfricanUnion has come up with its own writ to the band wagon. The 2063 agenda. At 12 yrs your jnr. I ain't sure both of us will be around for it;s fruition. Thus allow me to ask,who are we fooling?
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion Before we even begin to imagine, define. tabulate, understand or even assimilate this sustainable development foreign devil. Let us look at how Africa as a Continent is protecting the development all the 54 or so States have accrued, since attaining individual independence ?
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion What do you see, Sir. From a professional perspective I see doom & gloom. If it is not a Gas Stn fire killing over 150 in Accra,it is a coup in it's neighborhood, floods washing off roads & killing in the East, Shanty infernos in the South or ship blocking the canal in the North.
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion So what exactly is this sustainable development we hope to attain in 2030 & if Africa misses her opportunities, give it a try for 33 years until 2063. When we cannot secure, & or protect existing critical infrastructure, meant to drive that sustainability ? @Anon1KENYA
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion @Anon1KENYA Let us for example take the 2015 Gas Stn inferno claiming 150 lives leading to then President John Mahama announcing 3 days of national mourning. What did Ghana learn from it, to spur sustainable development especially in terms of Emergency Response & Business Continuity, Sir ?
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion @Anon1KENYA Yes Emergency Response & Business Continuity Mgmt, two sides of the same coin. Critical to sustainable development. If Gas Stn fires may be too one off. Let us look at Market Fires then & rewind back last 10 Months to June 2020 as our starting point, Sir. What do you see ?
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion @Anon1KENYA If you ask why markets? It is simple food security is not just an economic driver, it is a sustainable development tool kit item too.That sustainable development being sung needs people to drive it. & those people need to eat to do that. So how many market fires have there been?
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion @Anon1KENYA How many petrol tanker fires, residential fires, shanties & forest fires have there been ?
What are their impacts on the existing critical infrastructure & or contribution to Ghana's failure to attain the now only 9 years to go, 2030 MDG Goals ?
So again who are we fooling Sir?
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion @Anon1KENYA Feb 14, Fire hit Dagomba line in Kumasi.
July 22 Juaben Serwaa Koforidua Mkt.
Aug 6 Tarkwa Mkt
Sept 10, Dome Mkt, Accra
Nov 15, Koforidua Mkt
Nov 18, Odornaa Mkt.
Dec 16, Kantamanto Mkt Accra over 1000 shops.
Dec 20, Kaneshie Market
Come 2021 16 fires in Kumasi alone so far.
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion @Anon1KENYA So how exactly can we talk of sustainable development by 2030 or AU Agenda 2063, when we cannot sustainably develop protection for the existing development driving infrastructure nor guarantee efficient emergency response to the same, when the shit hits the fan ??? @ajfactual52
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion @Anon1KENYA @ajfactual52 Fast forward to the 28th Mar 2021 LNG tanker explosion killing 7 & explosions that costed millions? How sustainably developed was it? Long story short sir. You & all the other 53 or so Honchos presiding Africa. Need to stop parroting mediocrity & remove your heads from the sand.
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion @Anon1KENYA @ajfactual52 Spain is ready to help Africa develop. In the case of Fire Prep'dness & Emergency Response, a key to real sustainable development. This is a case of (With all due respect to PWD's) the blind leading the blind. They too need help on that score ! So is it not time for us to DIY ?
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion @Anon1KENYA @ajfactual52 @KagutaMuseveni @PaulKagame @AfricanUnion @jumuiya With political will, nothing is impossible for Africa. But are you African Honchos, my President Uhuru Kenyatta included even interested in listening to informed counsel ? @johnnjenga @SimbaTirima
@threadreaderapp unroll.
@NAkufoAddo @AfricanUnion @Anon1KENYA @ajfactual52 CORRECTION ON THE SENTENCE.
Fast forward to 28th Mar 2021 & reminiscence on the 2017 LNG Tanker Explosion killing 7 on your watch Sir.

Without a National Prep'dness System outlining an organized process moving efforts forward, & leading to the achievement of would be safety goals ? That chance ended up making politically correct billionaires. @ajfactual52 @alaminkimathi @mlimakenya @RasnaWarah @JerotichSeii
National Preparedness System
It normally outlines an organized process for everyone in the whole community or stakeholding, to move forward with their prep'dness activities & achieve the National Preparedness Goal. (If there is any set).
Six Parts of the National Preparedness System
1. Identifying & Assessing Risk
First, collect historical & recent data on existing, potential, perceived threats & hazards. The results of these risk assessments form the basis for the remaining steps.

@ProfPLOLumumba What you are suggesting Prof has the potential to make an important contribution to regional economic growth & development. Air transport can open, connect markets, facilitate trade & enable East African firms to link into global supply chains. But our Honcho & their Egos? Thread
@ProfPLOLumumba Your idea can play an especially pivotal role in just-in-time, manufacturing production, in speeding fresh produce from agricultural communities within regional economies to markets in the industrialised world. But again our Honchos & their egos ? @waluwande @mlimakenya
@ProfPLOLumumba @waluwande @mlimakenya Recognizing these egos & their restrictions to growth, came the Yamoussoukro Declaration in 1999. & With it an agreement committing 44 signatory countries to deregulating air services & to promoting regional air markets opening to transnational competition. 22 years later ?

Where would we start with these ? The State embarrassing COVID-19 cock-ups we keep wishing time can swallow to disappear, or the almost non-existent efficient emergency response ? @alaminkimathi @BravinYuri @SolomonKarori2 @moalbrecht @LydiahKinyanju4 @waluwande @HakiNgo
Let's skip Covid-19 for now & redress the fire bit, in which all our hospitals & health facilities for that matter are sitting ducks. Remember the Coast Gen & Msa Hosp fires of 2019 ? Did we learn anything ? @Hitlerlaw2 @AbdillahiTaib @africaupdates

@InteriorKE @IG_NPS 2 years line since its inception, guarding duties & scarecrow deterrence techniques & Al Shabaab's passion for targeting Comms towers in North Eastern aside. What has the CIPU achieved to aid the bigger National Security picture ? @ajfactual52 @alaminkimathi
Critical infrastructure being the various physical, systems & assets vital to Kenya. Where their incapacitation or destruction has a debilitating impact on our physical, economic security, public health & or safety. What has the CIPU achieved especially without proper backing?
I dare say proper backing, simply because the yester years NDOC Kenya now rather defunct thanks to @FredMatiangi's genius is a dead horse, & would have for starters have served as a lead agency in policy formulation & coordination functionalities @Anon1KENYA @chothep @BasilioCC

@StateHouseKenya @InteriorKE @NMS_Kenya Credit is due for the milestones so far achieved & those in progress. However, what of the Emergency Services Sector-ESS ? Why the Step-Motherly treatment ? Thread @TheStarKenya @NationAfrica @StandardKenya
the-star.co.ke/opinion/star-b…
ESS provides a wide range of prevention, prep'dness, response, & recovery services during both day-to-day operations & incident response. It must include geographically distributed facilities & equipment in both paid & volunteer capacities organized primarily at County level.
The mission being to save lives, protect property & the environment, assist communities impacted by disasters, & aid recovery during emergencies. Five distinct disciplines compose the ESS, encompassing a wide range of emergency response functions & roles:

@NMS_Kenya The residents say, firefighters took too long to get to the scene. When they eventually arrived, couldn’t extinguish the fire due to dilapidated state of the equipment. Is this true ? Over to you Gen.Badi. Thread.
@Ibrahimjohnny @Hitlerlaw2
kenyans.co.ke/news/62773-fir…
Where do we start with such claims, be they unfounded or otherwise Gen. Badi ? By 2017 Former Gov'nor Kidero left office, with 30 new fire trucks, imported from Belgium. @RasnaWarah @chothep @BasilioCC @mlimakenya @YussufMwinyi @HakiNgo @NairobiJiji @Mkenya0254 @VictorMwambacha
By the time @MikeSonko was impeached, he had added another 26 new trucks & 3 new Fire Stns were pending commissioning. @NMS_Kenya was on record too, having rehabilitated others. So how come equipment is being reported dilapidated? @siambiliki @ParassisO @waluwande @WanjikuRevolt
