So, when I was in year 3 of my PhD, I got engaged to an emotionally abusive man. He told me my PhD was miniature and that I won’t amount to much. He asked me to quit and move

to Norway and be his full house wife. He told me I was ugly. He called my parents uneducated. Yet, he engaged me.
So, after all that this Pastor’s PA who went to church 3 times every week ended that relationship after continued emotional abuse and threats.

At that point, I was already a shadow of myself. I didn’t believe in myself any longer. After that relationship, I took a break. I blamed God, I blamed myself. I blamed my parents. Then, I decided to take a break and just kick my PhD and finish it strong!
Ha! I finished that PhD and became the first black person who graduated from the PhD program in Biomedical Engineering program from @usask. Look what that PhD has done for me? I am now ahead of him in my career! Success indeed is the best revenge!
And then I met Olu, my Lapidoth! The man that God made for a Deborah. The man who made me feel like I am a winner daily. My brainbox and igileyin ogba mi! God saved me! And sometimes He is saving us and we are crying and wanting to stay! He May end that bad relationship or job!
And hey, stop fixing men! You are not his mother! They don’t marry their fixer o!
