President Biden’s #AmericanJobsPlan is crammed full of a lot of good policies that I’ve been fighting for to help working families and our economy. I wanted to highlight just a few:
I’ve been sounding the alarm long before COVID about the big, structural investments that we need to make child care part of our basic infrastructure. President Biden’s plan invests in child care facilities and availability, a good first step on the path to universal care.
I’ve introduced a housing bill to build millions of new housing units, and a bill to take care of our badly-needed public housing repairs. President Biden’s plan gets us a good part of the way there to create jobs and make housing more affordable.
My #BuildGreen Act would electrify our public transportation to create jobs, modernize our crumbling infrastructure, and fight the #ClimateCrisis. President Biden’s proposal has the first round of funding we need to make our plan a reality.
And I announced a bill with @RepAndyLevin to use the enormous purchasing power of the US government to kick-start demand for American-made clean energy products and create good jobs. President Biden’s plan is a good first step toward the goal.
I’ve got lots of ways to make big corporations and the ultra-rich pay their fair share for these investments, like raising the top corporate tax rate, stopping tax haven abuse and offshoring, and bolstering the IRS. The President's plan includes all these ideas.
I’ve also called for a Real Corporate Profits Tax to ensure that giant companies that report billions of dollars in profits don’t exploit loopholes to pay close to nothing in taxes. President Biden’s plan includes a version of this policy.
The #AmericanJobsPlan is a game-changer and full of ideas that progressives like me are fighting for to make long-overdue investments in America’s future.
