Victoria had been in Mexico since at least 2018, when she was granted refugee status for humanitarian reasons. Her mother says she left her hometown of Sonsonate 5yrs ago to escape the violence which El Salvador's notorious street gangs were spreading. bbc.com/news/world-lat…

“The police don't take care of me, my friends take care of me.”
March began & ended with the police murder of 2 women: Sarah Everard (UK) & Victoria Esperanza Salazar (Mexico). I want a world where we don’t call police; police don’t protect everyone. Who protects us from police? I made this in April 2020: 🎥 @rerutled
I deleted the tweet with the two pictures side by side because I mistakenly labeled the picture of Victoria as one of a protestor. Apologies for the mistake. Wanted to be clear.
Police in London did this to a woman at a vigil for a woman murdered by a police officer at the beginning of March.

I have been so fucking bone-tired-exhausted, the stay in bed all day kind of exhaustion. As I explained here: I don't have covid, I have perimenopause. feministgiant.com/p/essay-fallin…
I have gone weeks with feeling good, no waking up with crushing anxiety, no exhaustion and then these past few days I feel like I'm being pushed through some kind of trial by hormonal fire. I'm telling you all this because we need to say and hear it more.
So if you're perimenopausal and you're in a fuck this shit phase, I want you to know that I know.
I feel like I'm going through the Twelve Tasks of the Menopause or something so that I can finally be free.
It is always a fucking thrill when someone says "I will not be polite anymore" or "Stop telling me to stop saying 'fuck!'" that people send them my views on profanity. Here in Danish

The likelihood of a woman experiencing domestic violence surges by 35 per cent when she earns more than her male partner, new Australian research has revealed. h/t @maazalandsbs.com.au/news/women-are…
The research, based on more than a decade of de-identified Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) surveys, showed an increase in violence when women out-earned their partners was common across all ages, incomes, education levels, and cultural backgrounds.
Researchers found no impact from earning on the rates of domestic violence or emotional abuse against men.
There was also no change in the experience of physical and emotional abuse if the woman’s earnings increased, but stayed below half of the household income.
"If the bill is enacted it would be the first prohibition of its kind in the US, opponents say. The bill would prohibit doctors from providing gender confirming hormone treatment or surgery to minors, or from referring them to other providers for the treatment."
It also allows private insurers to refuse to cover gender-affirming care for trans people of any age.
The legislation restricts treatments that have been endorsed by major medical associations and human rights groups."
I publish my weekly essays for FEMINIST GIANT on Sunday. Here are the past month's:
"They said, ‘You are a savage and dangerous woman.'
I am speaking the truth. And the truth is savage and dangerous," Nawal El Saadawi, the Egyptian feminist who died last week.
"The world is full of sexually frustrated women who are are taught, and obey, that they must wait until they are married (to a man) to have sex, and yet I’m unaware of any massacres committed by those women." On the Atlanta terrorist
Feminism is not: supporting a woman simply because she is a woman, especially when her vote hurts mostly Black, Indigenous and women of colour. On #BespokeFeminism, which is tailored to perfectly fit just the individual wearing it.
