The first step is to get it off your screen by turning on autohide.
Option (⌥)+Command (⌘)+D keyboard will toggle this for you.
You can show it by dragging your mouse to the bottom or side where it lives.

Hit CMD+Space and search Terminal. Open it up.
Paste the following and hit enter:
defaults write com.apple.dock autohide-time-modifier -float 0.01;killall Dock
Voila, now try toggling your dock.
You're also officially an engineer.
