Aisha R.A reported:
The Prophet ﷺ was eager to fast on Monday and Thursday.

@Hadithoftheday It was narrated from Abu Qataadah al-Ansaari that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about fasting on Mondays. He said: “On that day I was born, and on it the Revelation came to me.” Narrated by Muslim, 1162.
@Hadithoftheday Narrated from Abu Hurayrah R.A that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Deeds are shown to Allah on Mondays and Thursdays, and I like my deeds to be shown when I am fasting.” - (Tirmidhi)

Narrated Abu Hurayrah R.A said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: “No one of you should fast on Friday, unless he fasts (a day) before it or after it.” - ( Bukhari and Muslim)

It is makrooh to single out Friday for fasting unless that happens to coincide with a fast that one habitually observes.
@Hadithoftheday Singling out Friday as a day for fasting and its night as a night to perform prayer is forbidden. However, fasting on Friday is permissible in two cases:
1. If one fasts a day before Friday or a day after it.
2. One may fast on a Friday if it coincides with his habitual fast
@Hadithoftheday Aside from the days on which it is forbidden to fast - the two days of Eid, the three days of Al-Tashreeq (11th, 12th, 13th of Dhul-Hijjah), the Prophet ﷺ would fast intermittently throughout the year. Based on one’s capacity, fasting is a beloved act of worship.

Narrated `` Abdullah bin `Amr:

Allah's Messenger ﷺ said to me, "The most beloved fasting to Allah was the fasting of the Prophet Dawood who used to fast on alternate days. (Sahih al-Bukhari 3420)

Abu Ayyoob R.A reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days of Shawal, it will be as if he fasted for a lifetime” [Muslim].

Aisha R.A narrated: "The Prophet ﷺ used to try to fast on Mondays and Thursdays" [Tirmidhi, Nasai, and Ibn Majah].

Fridays are the most blessed day of the week.
One should not fast Friday alone, but in combination with Thursday or Saturday.

Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard the Prophet ﷺ, say: "None of you should fast on Friday unless he fasts a day before or after it" [Bukhari].

Abdullah ibn Amr said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “It is sufficient for you to fast three days every month, because for every good deed you will have the reward of ten like it, so that will be like fasting for a lifetime”[Bukhari]
@Hadithoftheday The white days refer to the 13th, 14th, and 15th of the lunar calendar/Hijri calender.

There’s no day better to fast in after Ramadan than Muharram. +
@Hadithoftheday Ibn Abbas was asked about observing of fast on the day of Ashura, whereupon he said: “I do not know Allah's Messenger ﷺ, singling out any day's fast & considering it more excellent than another, except this day (the day of Ashura) & this month, i.e the month of Ramadan” [Muslim]
@Hadithoftheday 6. Arafah - 9th of Dhul-Hijjah:
For those not performing Hajj, fasting on the Day of Arafah, i.e the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, is highly recommended.+
@Hadithoftheday Abu Qatadah reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about the observance of fasting on the day of Arafah. He said, "It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year" [Muslim].

The month of Shaban gives an ample opportunity to prepare for Ramadan, both spiritually & physically

It was narrated that Aisha R.A reported that the Prophet ﷺ liked the month of Shaban more than any other month as far as supplementary fasting is concerned [Bukhari]

Farewell Sermon of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ :
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ's final sermon was delivered during the Hajj of the year 632 C.E - the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the lunar year, at Arafat.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ undertook his farewell pilgrimage in the year 10 A.H.
His farewell pilgrimage to Makkah is one of the most significant historical events, for it was the first and last pilgrimage made by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
After praising & thanking Allah, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again.

@Hadithoftheday Prophet Musa A.S fasted for 40 days and 40 nights when he was waiting for the revelation on the mountain of Sinai. It was after the period of fasting that Torah was revealed to Prophet Musa A.S.

Allah says in Qur'an:
"The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion."
(Qur'an. Al-Baqara 2: Verse 185)
@Hadithoftheday Allah revealed Quran in Night of Al-Qadr i.e Night of Decree. Night of Decree is in Ramadan.
Allah says in Qur'an:
"Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree."
(Qur'an. Al-Qadr 97: Verse 1)
@Hadithoftheday The revelation of Qur'an began in the month of Ramadan. The night in which the Quran began to be revealed is referred in the Quran as the blessed night.
Allah says in Qur'an:
We sent it (the Quran) down on a blessed night or the night of Decree (44:2).

One can't fast all year as there are two Eids in one year and it's Haram to fast in Eid Days.
Narrated Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri R.A:
The Prophet ﷺ forbade fasting on the day of al-Fitr and al-Nahr.” - (Bukhaari, 1992; Muslim, 827)
@Hadithoftheday It is also haraam to fast on the days of al-Tashreeq which are the three days after Eid al-Adha (the 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhu’l-Hijjah) because the Prophet ﷺ said: “The days of al-Tashreeq are days of eating, drinking and remembering Allaah.” Narrated by Muslim, 1141.

At his death bed, Abu Bakr R.A nominated Umar as his successor, who then became the Caliph in 13 AH (634 CE)
& ruled for ten years until 23 AH (644 CE)
Umar R.A was the first Muslim leader to be called "Ameer -Al-Muminin (the Commander of the Faithful)"
@Hadithoftheday Abu Bakr R.A led the Muslims for around two years.
When Abu Bakr R.A felt his own death approaching, he gathered his closest friends and advisers around him and informed them that their allegiance to him was over. +
@Hadithoftheday Abu Bakr R.A hoped that these men would choose his successor from among themselves. However, after much discussion Abu Bakr’s companions returned to him and asked him to choose for them for they trusted his choice beyond question. Abu Bakr R.A chose Umar R.A.
