''If you release thousands of condemned criminals into Imo State with its heightening unemployment, rising crime etc, the outcome will be disastrous for the state, Onitsha, Rivers and Abịa.
Then, there will be migration of businesses away from these areas to other areas where
security is to a reasonable level guaranteed.
My fear is not even about the much feared federal might. The federal government lacks the funds to prosecute another asymmetric warfare.Prosecuting another war in the East means depletion of resources and allowing Boko Haram boys to
overrun whatever is left of Maiduguri and the rest of North East. The men and the materials are not there.
My fear is that of internal cannibalism. These criminals, once they succeed in running government aground, will turn on us, destroying whatever is left of our local economy
to the benefit of others. The Akụ ruo ulo will be defeated.
When you look at the militancy in the Niger Delta, it stripped the region of everything that once made it attractive.
Very early this morning, I was in the bus going to Enugwu when the company ordered its driver back
to base over security concerns. And it got me wondering..
Instead of gloating over these attacks, take a deeper look into these issues and the consequences. If you open two maximum prisons in the East, the consequences will be dire.
And,we cannot afford an Insurgency on home soil
regardless of how much enticing it is.
That is why the silence of the political leaders is baffling. What do they know that we don't?''

By Bamidele Ogundana

''In every incidence, we come to terms with the fact that Nigerian security institutions, especially the police, has a challenge with fairness and ethnic balance.
Within few hours of mayhem in Owerri, the police was able to inform us that IPOB/ESN was responsible for the arson,
notwithstanding the denials and disassociation coming from the group.
But when NAF fighter jet was downed,a certain group claimed responsibility, while police struggled to exonerate the same group.
Besides, people were slaughtered in Ebonyi state in an unprovoked attack. Police
is yet to give us the identity of the group responsible for the massacre.
There is no quicker way to breed anarchy than for security institutions to be biased, offensively selective in enforcement of law.
You don't give the impression you have favorite criminals and expect the

''Power has changed hands in northern Nigeria, and the formerly respected voices like Gumi can no longer find a relevance commensurate with that of those who speak with AK-47s.
The millions of almajiri children whose destinies the northern elite stole to feather their private
nests have now grown up, and they are upsetting the social order through sociopathic ferocity. They have morphed into all shades of terrorism. The same weapon of violence their leaders have always used to assert power has fallen into the hands of these plebeians, and they are
making their leaders quake with trepidation. These barbarians have tasted blood, and are no longer content to be summarily corralled into rigging their theocentric leaders into power during election periods. They have found new relevance, and they are making huge sums of money
