A major war has been raging in the Nigeria sugar
industry for some time now and the bubbles seemed to have burst with Dangote’s decision to petition the Federal Government asking the Ministry of Trade to shut down BUA Group’s Sugar Refinery located in Port Harcourt.
In the letter dated 28th January, 2021 signed by Aliko Dangote
himself as the Chairman Dangote Industries Limited, the billionaire claimed that when the BUA Sugar refinery was opened ,he warned the Government and they told him that’ no new refinery would be allowed to operate in Nigeria’. Dangote accused BUA of operating with impunity by
contravening the laws as laid down in the National sugar policy by selling it’s products locally instead of producing for export alone.
BUA in its own defense sent to the Honorable Minister of Trade however clarified issues by stating that the law allows it to sell inside Nigeria
. Attaching the enabling permits and approval BUA stated that because of the connivance of the two major sugar manufacturers to hike the price of Sugar during the Ramadan period, the law allows it to sell locally.
BUA also warned that DANGOTE group and the other major player have
not been involved in any backward integration project, rather they depend on 80% raw sugar allocation which is detrimental to the Nigerian economy in long term analysis. BUA on the other hand has been involved in backward integration project with BUA’s Lafiagi Sugar BIP set to
be completed in 2022.

Over 250million dollars is believed to have been spent on the export focused BUA sugar refinery already and it is also employing over 1,000 Nigerians.
Meanwhile, BUA also noted that at the center of this fight to force FG to close BUA Sugar refinery down
is the price war.

Last year, before Ramadan, sugar sold for around 18,000 Naira per bag. But as Ramadan fasting started the price jumped to 30,000 per bag.The people had no choice but to buy it because they needed a lot of it during the period. So the manufacturers were smiling
to the bank. BUA group noticed the trend and decided that it had to change. There was no reason to increase the price during Ramadan simply because the demand is high.
Usually the increase happens about one month to commencement of fasting. When the other manufacturers got across
to BUA, Samad Rabiu refused. They put pressure on him, saying it was the right time to make good money but he put his feet down.
After failing to do that, they petitioned the Federal Government that he was breaking the law by selling sugar locally instead of for export.
A source
however claimed that already, BUA group has dragged the Trade Minister to court to ensure that the operations of the sugar refinery is not tampered with all because of the desperate attempt by Dangote Group to monopolize the sugar trade in Nigeria.
@DavidHundeyin you will find this story very interesting,in fact it has proved beyond reasonable doubt that your tweet about cement a couple of weeks ago is the whole truth.

Inculcate Strong moral values to your children to bring blessings to generations unborn
''How powerful can the generational influence of parents be on their own family and descendants?
In 1874 a member of the New York State Prison Board noticed that six members
of the same family were incarcerated at the same time. The board did some research, looking back a few generations to try to find the original couple who initiated this tragic family legacy.
They traced the family line back to an ancestor born in 1720, a man considered lazy and
godless with a reputation as the town troublemaker. He was also an alcoholic and viewed as having low moral character. To make matters worse, he married a woman who was much like himself, and together they had six daughters and two sons.
Here is what the report revealed about

''If you release thousands of condemned criminals into Imo State with its heightening unemployment, rising crime etc, the outcome will be disastrous for the state, Onitsha, Rivers and Abịa.
Then, there will be migration of businesses away from these areas to other areas where
security is to a reasonable level guaranteed.
My fear is not even about the much feared federal might. The federal government lacks the funds to prosecute another asymmetric warfare.Prosecuting another war in the East means depletion of resources and allowing Boko Haram boys to
overrun whatever is left of Maiduguri and the rest of North East. The men and the materials are not there.
My fear is that of internal cannibalism. These criminals, once they succeed in running government aground, will turn on us, destroying whatever is left of our local economy

''In every incidence, we come to terms with the fact that Nigerian security institutions, especially the police, has a challenge with fairness and ethnic balance.
Within few hours of mayhem in Owerri, the police was able to inform us that IPOB/ESN was responsible for the arson,
notwithstanding the denials and disassociation coming from the group.
But when NAF fighter jet was downed,a certain group claimed responsibility, while police struggled to exonerate the same group.
Besides, people were slaughtered in Ebonyi state in an unprovoked attack. Police
is yet to give us the identity of the group responsible for the massacre.
There is no quicker way to breed anarchy than for security institutions to be biased, offensively selective in enforcement of law.
You don't give the impression you have favorite criminals and expect the

''Power has changed hands in northern Nigeria, and the formerly respected voices like Gumi can no longer find a relevance commensurate with that of those who speak with AK-47s.
The millions of almajiri children whose destinies the northern elite stole to feather their private
nests have now grown up, and they are upsetting the social order through sociopathic ferocity. They have morphed into all shades of terrorism. The same weapon of violence their leaders have always used to assert power has fallen into the hands of these plebeians, and they are
making their leaders quake with trepidation. These barbarians have tasted blood, and are no longer content to be summarily corralled into rigging their theocentric leaders into power during election periods. They have found new relevance, and they are making huge sums of money
