Swami Chinmayanandaji was a renowned saint. Once, a 'Secular' minded journalist, who generally used to show Hinduism in poor light, vis a vis other religions, asked a question to Swamiji:
Q:Who is the founder of Islam?
A: Prophet Mohammad.
Q:Who is the founder of Christianity?
A: Jesus Christ.
Q: Who is the founder of Hinduism?
Thinking that Swamiji has no answer to her question, the lady journalist proceeded like a sure shot winner, proclaiming ,"There is no founder and hence, Hinduism is not a religion or Dharma at all."
Swamiji heard her above statement, then said smilingly, "You are right.
Hinduism is not a religion. It is a Science."
She simply had not expected such an answer and she failed to understand the real meaning of that reply.
Swamiji put some more questions to her and requested for an answer to his questions.
Q:Who is the founder of Physics?
Ans: No one person.
Who is the founder of Chemistry?
Ans: No one person
Who is the founder of Biology?
Ans:No single person.
Many many persons, from time to time, contributed to the wealth of knowledge of any Science.
Swamiji continued. "Hindu Dharma is a Science, developed over the centuries, contributed by saints and sages for giving right direction to the society.
Islam has only one book -Quran
Christianity has only one book - Bible.
But for Hinduism,I can take you to a library & show you hundreds of books. Hence Hinduism is a scientific religion - called Sanatana dharma - eternal dharma!!"

ममता दीदींनी आपला सेक्युलरीझम बाजूला ठेवून नुकतंच स्वत:ला शांडिल्य गोत्री हिंदू ब्राह्मण म्हणून जाहीर करून टाकलं. त्यावरून आठवलं. फार वर्षांपूर्वी अब्दुल रेहमान अंतुले ज्या दिवशी महाराष्ट्राचे मुख्यमंत्री झाले, त्याच दिवशी त्यांनी घोषणा केली
होती; की 'मी मूळचा चित्तपावन ब्राह्मण असून माझं मूळ आडनांव करंदीकर!' आता इतक्या वर्षांनी परवा फारूख अब्दुल्लाही म्हणाले, "आम्ही तीन पिढ्यांपूर्वीचे काश्मिरी पंडितच !" राहुल गांधी यांनी तर गेल्या निवडणुकांच्या वेळीच आपण 'जानवेधारी ब्राह्मण' असल्याचा दावा केला होता.
दरम्यान गेल्या महिन्यात ओवेसीही मूळचे ब्राह्मणच असल्याची बातमी झळकली होती; पण ती खरी की खोटी हे कळलं नव्हतं. तेवढ्यात आजच्या 'लोकसत्ता' मध्ये माजी पोलीस आयुक्त जुलिओ रिबेरो यांनीही सांगून टाकलंय, की 'चारशे वर्षांपूर्वी आम्ही चित्तपावन ब्राम्हण होतो व ब्राह्मणी पद्धतीनेच आजही

#दिवाळीचा_फराळ_आणि_आयुर्वेद
छान आल्हाददायक थंडीला सुरुवात झाली आहे. आणि त्यात आता सगळ्यांना दिवाळीचे वेध लागले आहेत. घरोघरी दिवाळीचे फराळाचे पदार्थ तयार करणे सुरू झाले आहे. या दिवाळी फराळाबद्दल आयुर्वेद काय सांगतो ते बघू या.
या काळात शरीरातील तिन्ही दोष (कफ वात पित्त) Image
समप्रमाणात असतात. जठराग्नी प्रदीप्त असतो. "खाल ते पचवाल" अशी स्थिती असते. यावेळी पचण्यास जड असा आहार दिला गेला नाही तर वाढलेला जठराग्नी शरीरधातूंचेच पचन करण्याची शक्यता असते व त्यामुळे दौर्बल्य येऊ शकते. या दिवसांत स्निग्ध,मधुर,आंबट तसेच तेला तुपात तळलेले
पदार्थ खाणे आवश्यक असते म्हणून दिवाळीत लाडू, करंज्या,शेव,चकली, चिरोटे,अनारसे,चिवडा इ. पचण्यास जाड पण अतिशय रुचकर पदार्थ केले जातात.

त्यामुळे मित्रांनो, छान दिवाळीची मजा लुटा, बिनधास्तपणे फराळाचे पदार्थ झोडा! ( चावून चावून खाणे व भरपूर व्यायाम करणे मात्र विसरू नका)

कच हा देवगुरू बृहस्पतिंचा पुत्र.संजीवनी विद्या शिकण्यासाठी दैत्यगुरू शुक्राचार्यांकडे गेला.त्यांना आपल्या येण्याचं खरं खरं कारण सांगितलं( गुरूंपासून कधीही काहीही लपवू नये कर्णासारखं). शिष्यभाव पत्करून आलेल्यास विद्यादान करणं हे गुरूंचं कर्तव्य
असल्यामुळे शत्रुपक्षाचा असूनही शुक्राचार्य तयार झाले. "तुला वर्षभर येथे राहावे लागेल" असे त्यांनी त्यास सांगितले. तो राहू लागला.त्याचे शिक्षण सुरू झाले. तो स्वर्गातून आला होता, संगीत विद्येत निपुण होता. शुक्राचार्य म्हणाले,"माझी पुत्री देवयानी हिला तू संगीत शिकव". तो तिला संगीत
शिकवू लागला. ती त्याच्यावर भाळली, प्रेम करू लागली. त्याला गोसेवेचेही काम गुरूंनी दिले होते. तो रोज जंगलात गायी चरायला नेत असे. आपल्या शत्रूला आपल्या गुरूंनी संजीवनी विद्या शिकवावी ही बाब दैत्यांना रुचली नाही.तो एकदा गायी घेऊन जंगलात गेला असता दैत्यांनी त्याला मारून टाकले

नुकतीच (१५ सप्टेंबर) रा.स्व.संघाचे ५वे सरसंघचालक यांची ८ वी पुण्यतिथी झाली. त्यानिमित्ताने एक आठवण ..
९२-९३ सालची गोष्ट.आम्ही अमरावतीला होतो.श्रीकृष्ण पेठ या भागात वरच्या मजल्यावरचं एक मोठ्ठं घर आम्हाला क्वार्टर म्हणून मिळालं होतं.तो भाग खास काँग्रेसचा गड!
तिथे माझा दादा जो त्यावेळी ११-१२वित होता त्याने बाल संघ शाखा सुरू केली आणि भरपूर संख्येत मुलं जामवण्यात त्याला यश आले होते. त्या गोष्टीचं संघातील सगळ्यांनाच कौतुक होतं. त्यावर्षी अमरावतीत संघाचा काही कार्यक्रम होता.त्यासाठी सुदर्शनजी जे तेव्हा अखिल भारतीय शारीरिक शिक्षा प्रमुख
होते( बहुतेक)ते येणार होते.त्यांची राहण्याची व्यवस्था आमच्या घरी करण्यात आली.घरात नुसती गडबड उडाली होती.मी मात्र तो ३१डिसेंबरचा दिवस असल्यामुळे मला रात्रीचा दूरदर्शनवरील मनोरंजनाचा कार्यक्रम पाहता येणार नाही या दुःखात होते!
ते ३१ला दुपारी आले.आईने औक्षण वगैरे करून त्यांचे स्वागत

मंगलोरपासून सुमारे १२-१४ किमी अंतरावर असलेलं एक छोटंसं संस्थान"उल्लाळ". तिथली राणी होती अत्यंत शूर व धाडसी *हिरिया (थोरली) अबक्का चौटा*!
सोळाव्या शतकात भारतात पोर्तुगीजांच्या वसाहतवादी शक्ती बळावल्या होत्या. त्यांनी कालिकत, दिव-दमण बेटे,मुंबई व गोवा काबीज १/७
केले .पुढे त्यांनी मोर्चा वळविला मंगलोर कडे. त्यांना ते फार सहज हस्तगत होईल असे वाटले होते पण राणी अब्बकाने त्यांना प्रखर लढा दिला. जवळपास पुढील ४० वर्षे ती त्यांचे हल्ले यशस्वीपणे परतवून लावत राहिली.पण अखेर ती पराजित झाली आणि तिला खंडणी आणि जाचक अटी मान्य कराव्या लागल्या. पण २/७
