THOUGHT OF THE DAY. It’s interesting to note that the lebanese -#sectarian- system that shaped the last 30 years and beyond (partially in the civil war), was only made possible because of the constant rivalry of main #christian leaders. THREAD 1/n
Just imagine for one second what would it have been like if Christian leaders (similarly to Chia or Sunni to some extent) had one main voice of representation. This would have lead to a 3-presidential-fight in a modern day #GameofThrones. 2/n
The current Mafia&Militia model wld have never been made possible. Imagining that LB people are actual #tribes. Depending on the positioning of Christians whether with or against it, wld generate a majority to Teheran’s axis or a clear blockade to it (2 vs 1 configuration). 3/n
This #hypothetical situation of impossible governance (majority of 2 sects against a minor third) would have eventually generated the imminent need for a #secular State. In other words, political #maronitism might be the actual curse of the lebanese existence. 🇱🇧 END. 4/n
