Originating in Rajasthan Phad is a religious form of scroll painting depicting folk deities Pabuji or Devnarayan.The 30 -15 ft-long canvas/cloth that is painted on is called phad. Vegetable clrs & running narrative of the lives& heroic deeds of deities characterise these.
3)Warli Paintings
2500 yr old tradition of Warli paintings of Thane & Nasik areas of Maharashtra.These showcase daily activities of the local people farming, dancing, hunting, praying etc.Twigs used to design with rice paste on mud walls of tribal houses on harvests or weddings.
