Here's instructions on how to make a Japanese PSN account and load it with credits: bkbrent.com/uncategorized/….
(I totally understand if you don't want to support the rush before the closing of the PS3 store though)
BTW while Chaos Breaker/Dark Awake was published by Taito, it was actually made by Eolith, a South Korean developer. The game has a really nice Warcraft/Golden Axe/Warhammer feel, leaning more into the latter, which makes it extra appealing to me! #カオスブレイカー
The charmingly old school website for the arcade version of Chaos Breaker is still online! Check it out!
If you're wondering about the name change, "Chaos Breaker" is the original title for the arcade game. It was changed to "Dark Awake" when Recom released the game to PSN.
You may have heard of Eolith (이오리스) before. They took over the King of Fighters franchise briefly after SNK filed for Bankruptcy in late 2001.
Eolith developed KOF 2001 and KOF 2002
Although quite controversial at the time, I thought King of Fighters 2001 had excellent portrait art! I believe it was the first KOF where Nona took over as lead illustrator (don't quote me on this)
This was one of the last animations that I created personally. Nowadays I manage a large team of artists. We're one of the biggest and best Spine studios in the world! Shoot me a DM if you need some high quality 2D animation in your games! #PortfolioDay#MadeWithSpine
My team actually animated over 300 characters for Indivisible! We did almost all the NPCs as well as some playable characters and bosses. The folks at LabZero were GREAT to work with. I wish them the best as they move on at Future Club. #PortfolioDay#MadeWithSpine
We also do full traditional hand drawn animation! This is an enemy character from our own original game, Neko Samurai 😼🔪
-hand grind some fresh beans
-wash out filter with hot water
-pour-over coffee in preheated cup
-enjoy fresh coffee
-drink half of it
-forget until it gets cold
-reheat in microwave with milk
-drink
-forget about it till it gets cold
-reheat in microwave ...
When I was fresh out of college I used to drink at least 7 cups a day. Now I just stretch one cup out for the entire day, adding stuff to it and reheating as I go. This must sound mortifying to coffee purists but I love it.
This is going to hurt a lot of artists, indie devs and small businesses. One of the nicest most supportive (including financially) Discord servers I'm a part of is for creators of 18+ games. They are so much kinder than the average Twitter user. Why punish them?
Devs generally work from their computers though so we will be fine. But I imagine this will hurt sex workers even more. Why? What's it for? Who is this making the world better for?
There's probably going to be some simple workaround like just accessing Discord through your web browser instead of the app. But still ... Why? Why make it more difficult for to adults to privately access adult content on their own time in their own little corner of the internet?
Zombie films are the most obvious direct influence on Resident Evil. Kamen Rider (and Toku stuff in general) is the secret sauce that makes the series truly special.
In the past I've seen folks write off the story of Resident Evil as nonsensical or even unimportant. But the story and characters really help set it apart from other horror games! People come back for them!
The Resident Evil/Tokusatsu connection is significant. Resident Evil 2 was actually written by Noboru Sugimura (杉村 升), a cherished veteran writer of many classic Toku shows including Kamen Rider Black, Zyuranger (which Power Rangers was spun out from), Winspector & many more!
