There should be no english requirement. ESPECIALLY due to but also outside a pandemic. There should be no requirement for a valid work permit or to be employed in order to 'qualify' for immigration status. These requirements are fundamentally exclusionary and racist. #cdnpoli 2/4
This one-off window is a poorly set up and deeply racist and classist band aid solution to a lethal problem that is solvable with #StatusForAll not the expansion of exclusionary immigration and moving goal posts with arbitrary rules for inclusion. 3/4
At ANY TIME the feds could ensure #StatusForAll. This just clarifies that not only is full & permanent immigration status for all completely possible in one swoop but the ONLY reason it hasn't happened is because worker exploitation and racism are profitable for corporations. 4/4
