Since Christian Nationalists in the US seem to be leading this movement, here is what to expect from Canadian xenophobic Christian Nationals.

This isn’t a joke or hyperbole. This is what they want. To make Manifest Destiny real.

You can see why treaties would be a nuisance.
How many Canadians know their North American history? I bet few. The dominant culture and those who benefitted and still do are reluctant to reveal the devastation created by expansion of the US and Canada (British Empire).

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manifest_…
So many believe Kenney wants to go back to the 1950’s.

I keep repeating it’s not the 1950’s. That was the Golden Age of American Capitalism.

Kenney is looking to implement a return to 1850. Before human rights. Before treaties. When whomever legally claimed land owned it.
The Guilded Age and absence of worker protections.

And the realization of a couple centuries of oligarch’s wet dreams; Manifest Destiny.

The exclusive right for Evangelical Christians to create the Kingdom of God in their own image.
Not God’s image. What they, Dominionist Christians, believe to be God’s Kingdom.

Patriarchal, strict social hierarchy, devout faith and adherence to biblical law, property owners were almost gods themselves, and everyone knew their place.
Slaves, indentured servants and wage workers subsisted. Many died, but there were always more. There were three classes of people. The chattel slaves, workers and servants, the tiny middle class of clerks and white collar workers, and the wealthy, who made all the rules and laws.
That’s what UCP, CPC and every other radicalized Christian Nationalist is striving for.

And they are succeeding.

Because we continue to allow their caustic beliefs and values to be considered legitimate.
In case you’re wondering, Hitler designed his Nazi movement after Southern US slave states.

That’s where early 20th century to mid 20th century fascism originated.

Hitler just copied slave state ideology and the American Manifest Destiny.
Those who are ignorant of history are bound to repeat it.
Is this our future or our past?
Never again is now.
Poor houses were common features. Starve or die from the elements. Or work slave labour for room and board.
The poor were housed like cattle.

Poor children were cheap and exploitable labour. Paid less than their adult counterparts.
Slavery was legal.

Indentured servitude was the only way the poor could survive outside of workhouses. How many immigrants came to Canada as indentured servants in wealthy households? Quite a few. My ancestors came from the Scottish Orkneys to work for 5yrs to earn a living.
How many poor and subsistence wage earners fought for labour rights by exercising their right to strike?
How many of them lost their lives fighting to be treated with dignity and paid a fair wage? Thousands.
That’s what wealthy property owning Libertarian Christian Nationalists are aiming for.

They want Dominion. Not equality. They want to return to a time when they had all the advantages and control of all the wealth.

That’s the spirit.

Waiting for a saviour is called saviour syndrome.

Taking matters into your own hands with a bunch of like minded citizens is called a movement.

Be the change you want to see. ~ Gandhi.
This is the actual meaning of “pull up your bootstraps.”

This is not an impossible task. But it is labour intensive and frustrating.

Get the PCs to understand that the majority of citizens want effective public health measures. And help from those who have offered it. ImageImageImage
Cause that’s the only action that is going to end the covid cycle. Zero covid strategy demanded by the public most affected or squeakiest wheel. Image

Interesting independent journalism article.

ALEC has formed a resistance group to climate change.

Weirder still, their position sounds awfully familiar to Canadian conservative’s strategy. @Tentoads4truth

Could UCP, Sask Party or Ontario PC’s be giving ALEC advice?
However their strategy was developed, it is certainly supported by Canadian conservative premiers.

Was this the retaliation Kenney referred to when Biden cancelled KXL?

Me thinks this could be it.
What is it called when an entire industry attempts to write laws favourable to their profit making and eliminating federal government power to regulate them?

A corporatist coup?

A cartel coup?

A plutocrat coup?

Whatever the descriptor, this is an organized coup.

The response to this desperate request for federal coordination and extreme targeted measures to save maximum number of lives is disturbing to say the least!
There has been a coordinated strategy to divide the nation & destroy the unity of a national identity. I’m devastated that it seems to have succeeded.

Conservative politicians have relentlessly incited animus while exuding arrogance & haughty derision on progressive Canadians.
We have a visceral and palpable physical reaction to politicians like Ford, Kenney, Moe, Pallister, Legault. Horgan is also in this group, and receives less bile, but that’s a disturbing phenomenon on its own. He doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Mr. Tapper and CNN have been corrected by thousands of Canadians.

Yet he and his network persist in amplifying this disinformation.

Why?
Why has CNN been connected, through Jake Tapper, to promotion of conspiracy theories favouring the far right?

This is not Tapper’s first kick at the cat. He personally gave legitimacy to Trump and denigrated Clinton in 2016 US presidential election.
His devotion to truth is questionable. He’s a click bait king misleading a nation.

Americans know this. Canadians need to be aware of it as well.

I wonder if Canadians understand why First Nations with band and legal FN status are excused from the tax burden for the maintenance of the provinces and nation if they earn their wages on reserve?
There are many who believe this to be an unfair advantage for FN indigenous people.

But that’s because they don’t understand treaties, land title, property rights and citizenship in Canada.

Unless you understand those topics intimately, you’re making a judgment in ignorance.
Treaties were signed with most First Nations. Treaties allow the Crown to assume the title to all the lands in Canada, except the reserves on which various FN were assigned and restricted to live.

Over time, these reserve lands began to be known as independent nations.

It’s disheartening that political pundits continue to ignore the political splintering of conservatives has ALWAYS been the radical evangelical religious right asserting dominance. Every fricking time!

cbc.ca/news/canada/ca…
By continuously ignoring the power wielded by religious extremism in Alberta, the public remains in a fog, unable to discern what is happening in provincial and federal politics.

This attempt to normalize jockeying for control of the agenda is discouraging.
Is it lack of familiarity about the Christian right? Or is it the attempt to keep religion and politics separate?

But the effort to normalize what has been happening in Alberta since 1935 is intentional. And that makes me angry and resentful.
