Rifleman Dhonkal Singh, Maha Vir Chakra (Marnoparant), Sixth Battalion The Rajputana Rifles
Fell in Uri on 30 Apr 1948, paving the way to victory for his comrades.
Here's his story .. Image
2
#ObituaryOfTheDay
This day in 1948, in Uri, at 0715Hr, 'A' Compny 6 RajRif captured its assigned objective as part of the battalion operation to capture a feature overlooking the Nalwa Picquet, which was considered vital for the defence of Uri.
3
#ObituaryOfTheDay
Accordingly, the battalion had been tasked a day prior, with troops having concentrated at 2000Hr on 29 Apr.
Even as 'A' Company had been successful, others were still on the move.
4
#ObituaryOfTheDay
Progress of 'D' Company was considerably slowed down, as the climb they encountered was steep and the boys had to move along a narrow track through the pine forest.
It was already daylight by the time the company neared its objective.
5
#ObituaryOfTheDay
The enemy subjected them to a withering fusillade of LMG fire. Rifleman Dhonkal Singh, the leading scout, received serious injuries to his left shoulder.
6
#ObituaryOfTheDay
Despite the serious injury, this brave soldier son of Mother India crawled forward to the flank of the enemy and when within a few metres of the post destroyed it with a hand grenade.
7
#ObituaryOfTheDay
Three enemy personnel were killed and the rest abandoned the post and started running away.
Undaunted, and despite his injuries, this brave Rajput gave chase.
He was in no mood to let any Paakis survive to tell the tale that morning.
8
#ObituaryOfTheDay
While pursuing the fleeing enemy soldiers he was again hit by grenade splinters in face & chest.
He began bleeding profusely.
9
#ObituaryOfTheDay
Knowing his end was near, this 24 year old lad summoned his last reserves of energy, and lobbed another grenade, killing two more enemy soldiers, including their commander.
With their path now clear, rest of his company now rushed forward, scattering the enemy
10
#ObituaryOfTheDay
His job done, his young man from Village Sekala, Jodhpur breathed his last at a hill approximately 850km away from his place of birth, at about 2100Hr that night.

Major Baljit Singh Randhawa, 4th Battalion The Rajput Regiment Maha Vir Chakra (Posthumous)
Martyred this day in 1965. Image
2
#ObituaryOfTheDay
During the prelim ops leading up to the 1965 war, Maj Randhawa was tasked to recapture some posts occupied by Paakis in Kargil, as well as establish further posts in order to plug infiltration routes into the Valley.
3
#ObituaryOfTheDay
The Pakistani posts were well defended with machine guns and mortars. Add to that the extremely difficult terrain, and the Rajputs had a difficult task at hand.
4
#ObituaryOfTheDay
Yet, undaunted, they moved in to attack at 2am in the dead of the night under sub zero temperatures and a cold, gusty wind.
As they climbed towards their objective, the attackers came under intense enemy fire.
5
#ObituaryOfTheDay
Realizing the danger to his troops, Maj Randhawa ordered them to take cover and like the true leader that he was, chose to move ahead with a handful of boys, soon wresting one post from the Paakis.
An enemy machine gun deterred further advance.

Regardless, Maj Randhawa led the assault on the machine gun bunker. In the process, he took a burst and fell down mortally wounded.
However, this Tiger continued to exhort his troops to advance till his last breath, not permitting any man to halt for his aid.

He soon left for his heavenly abode, satisfied that his boys were well on their way to victory.

So I came across this report some days ago.
In light of this yet again newly 'rediscovered' love for Paakis by Indian entertainment industry, replugging a short thread that I wrote on the issue some years ago.
Here goes ..

With the Pakistani State apparatus actively fomenting / sponsoring terror inside India, each and every Pakistani citizen paying tax to his Govt in whichever form, is actually enabling it kill Indian soldiers and civilians.
In case of Pakistan, State support for terror too is blatant.
At times it is apparent for all to see as in Punjab Govt budget catering money for Hafiz Saeed's JuD, which itself incarnated from the LeT when the heat became too much on it!

Ok, folks, sharing my experiences with an elderly COVID patient at home and how so many folks came together to help in the hour of need. Despite the loss, the coming together of so many people to help out in whatever way they could, was really heartwarming indeed.
He was a veteran from the armed forces, having served for almost four decades before retirement. Used to stay alone in a flat after the passing of my wife's mother.
Of late, he had developed a myriad of medical issues - diabetes, prostrate and some neuro issues following a ..
.. brainstroke some years ago.
Keeping this in mind, I rented a flat in his society a few months ago so that there is someone at hand in case of need.
And just in time too.

Ok folks, carrying on from this thread tweeted yesterday, let me share some thoughts on the current situation in Pakistan and how I view it.
Opinions shared here are strictly personal.
Let's see how it goes!
Firstly, in case u missed it, do go thru this thread of yesterday before moving ahead.
However, even if u don't, it won't matter because this chain of thoughts that I'm tweeting today, is mostly unrelated to the issue of yesterday, that was a bit personal!
Ok, firstly, a quick recap of things as they developed:

Last year, a young girl in a French school, in order to hide the fact that she had been suspended for skipping classes, lied to her father that her teacher had told Muslim students to leave class as he showed photos of ..

So Shri Shoaib Taimur from Pakistan did an analysis of the 'Civil War Trend' in Pakistan a few days back. A fairly deep research, I must say, and some really interesting data points were brought about by the handle. Kudos, indeed!
Let me share some thoughts on it here ..
Now why I got interested in this topic is 'coz my handle too figured in the beautiful graphic tweeted by the handle, for being tagged as part of the trend.
Hence this short thread.
Thoughts are still disjointed. Let's see how it goes.
Firstly, it would be naive to assume there would be no interference in the other's internal affairs from across the LoC / IB because it's a well known fact that the two countries don't really count each other in their list of 'friends'.
