Let me play the devil's advocate here for a second. #SuperLeague

THREAD
I have already stated that I believe relegation and promotion are essential for any competition. The underdog's success is a story that will always be desirable. So, if you lock in 15 clubs that will never lose their place, the competition losses its charm.
However, if that detail is corrected, then this could be something revolutionary. Like how Europen Cups were started by Santiago Bernabeu's ideology and later became the #ChampionsLeague, as we know today. Or how the #EPL rebranded itself in 1992.
Money is always going to be an objective. Don't think that all these other leagues are standing for a moral ground or whatsoever. They oppose it as they'll lose massive revenues if the biggest clubs in their leagues break out.
Inevitably though, that will bring the other domestic clubs to the brink of extinction. #Perez said that they have the formula to trickle down around 10 billion to each of the domestic clubs in the inaugural phase of the Super League, but I don't know how legit it is...
...and what blueprint he has for that. Long story short, I don't think it is money vs morals here. The only one who cares about any integrity are the fans like you and I. UEFA and #FIFA doesn't give a flying fook for integrity. So, let's get that out of the way.
Another thing is that Super League doesn't intend to leave the domestic competitions. Hence, the likes of #EPL, #LaLiga, #Serie A would continue as it is.
It is a replacement of UCL with another round-robin league of Europe's elites that play mid-week so fans can see the matchups of #Bayern vs #RealMadrid [if Bayern join the SL] & #Barca vs #ManCity every week. Thus, trashing the "farmer's league" argument out for once and for all.
Super League clubs intend to play in all other competitions except #UCL and #UEL, which they'll replace. However, #UEFA and the other leagues threaten to ban these clubs and players from their competitions, including the national leagues, #Euros and #WC.
But can they really afford that, though?
As per reports, #FlorentinoPerez will today announce the whole blueprint of the Super League, and perhaps if we listen to it a bit more objectively, it may not be the worst thing ever.
I mean, money has always been the main objective for every league and organisation in football. They have rebranded their models based on that before.
So, maybe if #SuperLeague has a bit more of a sporting aspect to it, by allowing promotion and relegation, then it could be quite a thing to watch out for.
I love #UCL KO stages, but #SuperLeague, on the other hand, could present with sure certain matchups of the best clubs every season.
And if they trickle down the money to grassroots and have a competitive selection process, and they continue with all the other competitions, then I don't think I'll be that much against it.
